Icon Heroes had released the last Thundercats Minimates box set through Diamond Select Toys and distributed to online retailers and specialty shops. This set includes Lynx-O, Bengali, Punyra, Ratar-O and Berbil Bert.
The Thundercats Minimates line has had an amazing run with 5 sets, the Thundertank and Cats Lair statues. We applaud Icon Heroes for this amazing line and thank them for all their hard work and dedication. However, we also want to take the this opportunity and ask that they reconsider stopping the line after the Thundercats Hoooo! box set. In an email to Icon Heroes asking them why they cancelled the line before characters such as The Lunataks were made, we were told it’s because “the minimals needed to produce a set are too high to pursue the lesser known characters.” In a struggling economy, that’s understandable, but they are also missing the opportunity to produce characters such as The Lunataks that have never been offered before in action figure form, and they might not know this, but they have given us the best Thundercats toyline since the original 1980’s line was produced. No one else has given us Lynx-O, Bengali, Punyra, Ratar-O, Young Jaga, Wolfrat, Ro-Bear Berbil Bill and Berbil Bert. The 2″ Minimates line was a very unique way to produce these characters.
Would fans be willing to pay a higher than $20 price to get The Lunatanks with a smaller production run such as a convention exclusive? Or other characters for that matter? Maybe at a $30 price point? We know that the fan base is there but are there enough buyers out there that want these characters? Let Icon Heroes know!

Overall:
Icon Heroes has done a fantastic job with this line of 25 figures spread across 5 different box sets. For a small line, it’s simply very impressive we have gotten all the core characters plus some extras like 2 Berbil’s. Unfortunately, we are not ready to say goodbye to this amazing line and we are asking readers to speak up and email Icon Heroes at the link above asking them to continue the line with characters such as The Lunataks.
If Bandai ever tries to make Thundercats action figures again, they should take some notes on what Icon Heroes has done and have hopefully learned all of their mistakes with the 2011 line.
Highly Recommended.
