Marvel Legends Captain America Infinite Series Hydra Soldier Review

Marvel Legends Captain America Infinite Series Hydra Soldier 01

Back in 2007, Hasbro released the AIM soldier (shown in the gallery below) in the Brood Queen Build-A-Figure line with two different variations of head sculpts. A lot of collectors don’t seem to care for that older figure too much, and Hasbro went back to the drawing board and redesigned this character with today’s new and improved sculpting.

The problem with the Hydra Soldier and AIM Soldier is that these are army builder characters packed out as one per case and have a hefty price tag of $19.99 each. While The Red Skull and Baron Zemo include the same build-a-figure parts, finding any of these figures at retail is a proving to be a frustrating thing. In the long term seeing these fly off the shelves is good for Marvel Legends with retailers as this 12+ year old toyline continues. Hasbro definitely deserves a lot of credit here for taking the next step with army builders in Marvel Legends.

The breakdown of build-a-figure parts included in the assortment is as followed:

  • WW2 Captain America – No Build-A-Figure Parts
  • Marvel Now! Captain America – Head
  • Agents Of Hydra Red Skull/Hydra Soldier – Left Arm
  • Soldiers Of A.I.M Baron Zemo/A.I.M. Soldier- Right Arm
  • Wave 2 – Captain America – Right Leg
  • Wave 2 – Winter Soldier – Left Leg
  • Wave 2 – Black Widow – Torso

The Hydra Soldier uses the slim body buck that we’ve seen with recent slender figures, and includes a newly sculpted head, shoulder straps, belt, and weapons. On the right side of the shoulder straps across his chest is a silver and black patch with an “H” on it.

The figure is painted in a comic book accurate green and yellow costume. There are some slight sloppy paint apps where the yellow meets the green on the forearms. The weapons are just too big for him. One has a Hydra logo on it and has a pistol type handle that’s attached to a much larger weapon with a second handle for the other hand. The other weapon looks like a sniper rifle with a short handle and is way too long for him.

Overall, if you can find one or more at retail, do not hesitate to pick it up. This figure has a superior sculpt compared to the 2007 release and it just simply excellent.
