G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Figure Subscription Service 2.0 Cesspool Review

G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Figure Subscription Service 2.0 Cesspool Review

G.I. Joe Collectors' Club FSS 2.0 Cesspool 01

Cesspool is the perfect example of what the club should be focused on in the Figure Subscription Service line with making updates to vintage 1980’s and early 1990’s G.I. Joe characters. With the G.I. JoeCon coming in April, Cesspool fits in perfectly with the upcoming Zombie Initiative box set exclusive.

Availability: January 2014

Sculpt & Paint:

Cesspool has an all new head sculpt and reused parts of 30th Anniversary G.I. Joe figures for the body. Painted on his chest in orange  is a small Cobra logo inside a Toxo-Viper insignia. The head sculpt is by far one of the best features of the figure and has a very detailed facial scar on his right side that runs up and down his face.

The color choices for the figure are extremely good as it pays homage to the vintage 1991 release.

Articulation:

Standard for modern G.I. Joe figures.

Accessories:

Included are most of his vintage accessories including a helmet (that’s slightly too short on his face and leaves his chin exposed, a backpack with hose and gun attachment, a small blaster, a brief case with cash (previously used for 30th Anniversary Destro and the SDCC 2013 Destro figures), and a figure stand with two pegs.

Bio:

Cesspool was the Chief Executive Officer of a huge multi-national corporation with vast holdings in oil refineries, chemical plants, and mills. In an effort to placate environmental groups, he took them on a tour through one of his chemical plants, where an accidental exposure to the toxic waste left him horribly disfigured. For reparations, he took his knowledge of high-level dirty dealings and corporate subterfuge straight to the Cobra organization. He soon created a weapons grade Plasma-Tox and portable dispersal system. However, he found that long-term exposure turned some of his men into uncontrollable creatures. He was eventually caught by the G.I. Joe team and incarcerated for many years.

Cesspool secretly plotted to find ways to get back at society, and discover an additive that would let him control exposed personnel. Upon his release, he went directly back to where his experiments left off. He now oversees all chemical engineering and custom synthesis of Compound Z at Cobra laboratories. Anyone exposed to this chemical becomes a zombie-like drone. He plans to create an army of Zombie-Vipers and exact his revenge on the world.

Overall:

The Club has done an excellent job recreating a vintage character using almost all existing parts with a new head sculpt. You couldn’t have asked for a better Cesspool figure and we hope to see similar results in future Figure Subscription Service figures as there are many more vintage characters that need a modern update!

Highly Recommended.
