The Total Heroes line by Mattel has replaced the previous DC Universe Classics 6″ line with a less deco, articulated and tooling figures. Retailers are done for now with the higher priced DC figures and wanted to a cheaper alternative. The only way to give them this was to offer a line such as Total Heroes, which also has more of an animated look to it.
The first series of this new line includes New 52 Superman, Batman, The Flash, Aquaman, Green Lantern and Sinestro. Since Green Lantern and Sinestro are packed out as one per case, these are the hardest to find figures in the assortment and the only two that appear to be selling out everywhere including online retailers.
Availability: February 2014
Sculpt & Paint:
Hal Jordan is painted in his Green Lantern Corps green and black uniform. The sculpt and paint show a more animated look to him, which for fans of the recently cancelled Green Lantern animated series might really like that. Hal is also less articulated and does not include the ab crunch, swivel biceps and swivel thighs
Articulation:
Swivel head, ball jointed shoulders, hinged elbows, swivel wrists, swivel waist, hinged and swivel hips, hinged knees, and hinged ankles.
Accessories:
Transparent double bladed-axe green construct. This accessory can also fit the DC Universe Classics Green Lantern Hal Jorgan figure, but the only DCUC construct we found that is compatible with the Total Heroes Hal Joran is the gun. None of the other constructs with the hand clip piece are compatible because these lines have different hand sizes.
Overall:
For fans that did not support either the higher deco line at retail and/or Mattycollector, this is the alternative to what you’d get. While most figures in the line are an easy pass for some adult fans, we find that Green Lantern, Sinestro, and the Ultra figures on Mattycollector to be what most DC fans should look at getting for now.
Highly Recommended.
