First released in 1992, Big Bear gets an updated action figure in 25th Anniversary style in March 2014 thanks to the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club, Boss Fight Studio, and Hasbro. Big Bear is is a member of the Oktober Guard and he is a necessary purchase if you own the Box Set Exclusive from JoeCon 2012.
Availability: March 2014
Sculpt & Paint:
Big Bear features a newly sculpted head, and includes the torso and body or the cancelled action figure Pursuit of Cobra Arctic Threat Duke. He has a non-removable hat with a red star on the front, which is an Oktober Guard symbol. His pouches on the jacket get in the way of his left arm as he lowers his arms down the sides. Sculpted onto his jacket are two silver grenades.
He has a fairly simple color scheme with a green jacket and pants, with brown pouches and straps. The club also stayed true to the Oktober Guard box set and gave him a green figure stand.
The original 1992 figure also had a winter jacket, but not an extreme winter outfit like Arctic Threat Duke. While the colors are great, the Club used the wrong body for him as he should have been given a lighter winter jacket to better resemble the 1992 release.
Standard for modern G.I. Joe action figures.
Missile launcher, missile, rifle, rifle with shoulder strap, green figure stand.
It is great to finally be able to own a new Big Bear action figure after 22 years. However, he does not match the 1992 release from the neck down (except for colors).
Recommended if you own the Oktober Guard box set.
