For 2014, Hasbro rebranded the 4″ Marvel Universe line into an Avengers themed line also called Infinite Series, which is the same name for their 6″ Marvel Legends line. Confusing isn’t it? Just like Star Wars The Black Series, Hasbro is now calling both the 6″ and 4″ line by the same name.
Starting with wave 1, Hasbro included a new Hulk, Wasp with miniature figure, Grim Reaper and Hyperion.
Using only an all Avengers themed line limits the characters that Hasbro can use compared to the entire Marvel Universe. Meaning fans of X-Men might feel left out as you would likely get a Hawkeye figure over a new Storm figure with this new launch. The upside of this is they will not be coming out with villains they have not gotten to yet, such as Deaths Head in wave 2.
Disclaimer – These figures were purchased from Nerd Rage Toys.

Sculpt & Paint:
Platinum Hulk features a great sculpt with removable chest and forearm armor that does fall off too easily. The sculpt is rather bulky, but the head looks a little too small and not proportional with the body. Hulk is painted in green with brown pants and grey armor. There also is some yellow on the armor’s chest and belt buckle.
Hyperion makes his debut in the 4″ scale and includes the red and gold costume with gold shorts and logo on his chest. He uses the standard body sculpt used in the line, and includes a removable cape that just falls off too easily.
Wasp includes a miniature version of herself and two removable wings on ball jointed-hinges. What is most upsetting is that we found she does not come with a figure stand, as females are known to fall over due to their thin size. This is not as big of a deal as stores like Entertainment Earth sell 4″ scale figure stands. The foot hole on the figure and peg on the stand may or may not be compatible though with Wasp. She is wearing her black and gold costume with some paint damage to her upper back (this could be an isolated incident).
The miniature version of herself does not have any articulation and has a very basic head sculpt that’s blurry.
Grim Reaper has a rather interesting sculpt with a scythe as a right hand, but the right elbow hinge does not move on this figure and all you can do is move him at the shoulder and bicep swivel. The scythe was also bent in package, which remains bent even now due to the thin and long size of it. He uses a thinner body build compared to Hyperion and is painted in a black costume with a white skull and bones on his chest, and a purple cape.
Articulation:
Standard for Marvel Universe 4″ figures.
Accessories:
Hulk – Removable armor
Hyperion – Removable cape
Wasp – Miniature figure
Overall:
So far Hasbro has intrigued us with the rebranding of the line and we look forward in seeing what else they have in store. This wave does have some flaws on mentioned above, but as far as character choices are concerned, we are very pleased.
Highly recommended.
