Hasbro’s Star Wars The Black Series 6″ line continues to amaze us. The third wave consists of the Stormtrooper, Bespin Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and a reissue of Han Solo. As you would imagine, the Stormtrooper is the most popular figure in the wave and also the most hardest to find. It makes us wonder why Hasbro likes to pack these highly popular characters as only one per case, compared to 2 per case of the not as popular figures. In order to understand that, you have to look at Hasbro’s standpoint. Just like their SDCC exclusives, they like fast sell outs as it gives them a lot of attention for their PR, whether it is good or bad.

Sculpt & Paint:
The shinny glossy painted Stormtrooper features some all new tooling and uses some parts from the 6″ Sandtrooper. The head is ball jointed and hinged giving him side to side movement and full forward and backward head poses. The armor on the shoulders do get in the way of the articulation when lifting the arms side-to-side, but it is not all that necessary in this case.The stormtrooper has some detailing on his stomach with small black buttons and texture, two different knee pads, and a holster for his small blaster.
There are some black paint spots on his armor including the chest, right forearm, right thigh, right inner thigh, and left arm. This appears to be a widespread problem and there does not appear to be any perfectly painted Stormtroopers out there without incident.
Articulation:
ball jointed hinged head, ball jointed shoulders, swivel biceps, hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ab crunch, ball jointed hips, hinged knees, and hinged ankles.
Accessories:
One blaster-rifle, one blaster.
Overall:
The Stromtrooper is an excellent figure and well worth army building if you can find one, or even two for that matter. He is fully articulated and detailed just like on the big screen.
