It’s been over two decades since any of us here at ToyHypeUSA has even touched a LEGO brick yet alone put one together. So one of treated himself for his birthday with not one, but two Star Wars LEGO sets that we will be revealing in tomorrow’s review.
The LEGO Star Wars 75022 Mandalorian Speeder comes with 211 pieces, and three mini-figures with Cyborg Darth Maul, and 2x Mandalorian troopers.
Availability: June 2013
Sculpt & Paint:
The Mandalorian Speeder is a very sturdy vehicle with a swivel cannon on top, two clips to store the Mandalorian troopers blasters, a hidden storage space under the top blaster for Darth Maul’s lightsabers, and two firing missiles in front by moving the side handles forward.
The vehicle uses blue, black, light and dark grey bricks, and includes a sticker sheet.
Darth Maul has the swivel cybernetic legs, Zabark tattoos that are very detailed on his chest, arms and head. It is unfortunate that LEGO didn’t give the cybernetic legs articulation in the knees, and we also find it strange that the double lightsabers do not connect.
The Mandarlorian troopers have the standard LEGO mini-figure body with an accurate helmet and jetpack. The figures are painted black and grey, with some red on the helmets and chest to indicate they are working for Darth Maul as shown in The Clone Wars. The head sculpts are painted slightly differently as well.
Articulation:
Standard for LEGO mini-figures, the vehicle has a swivel cannon on top, and a hinged hood.
Accessories:
Two lightsabers (black and red), two blasters, two missiles.
Overall:
The LEGO Mandalorian speeder is a very nice looking vehicle with some very fun features and mini-figures. Darth Maul is truly the gem here.
Recommended.
