This Star Wars LEGO set is all about Pong Krell, the Jedi General traitor that turned Separatists in The Clone Wars. This takes us back to Jeff’s custom Pong Krell action figure that to this month is a very highly viewed article even almost a year after it was posted. This tells us there is a lot of interest in owning this character in 3 3/4″ scale. But as of right now LEGO made the only official figure of him in this set. We have to ask why hasn’t Hasbro attempted on making this figure yet even in a realistic style? Their Black Series line would be the only option now and even with that fans would obviously want it.
As far as the set itself, it is a very nice LEGO with an excellent Z-95 Headhunter vehicle as shown in The Clone Wars episodes.
Availability: January 2013
Sculpt & Paint:
The Z-95 Headhunter has an opening cockpit that can fit one 501st LEGO minifigures, hidden storage behind it for the blaster and binoculars, three landing gears, and a spring loaded firing missile by pulling down on the black circular piece at the bottom and the launcher will automatically fire. The vehicle has the standard Star Wars white, brown and red colors as shown in The Clone Wars.
Pong Krell is a must have and he has an excellent animated likeness to him. The entire head, upper arms and torso are one piece and the rest of the body uses the standard minifigure buck. He comes with his double bladed lightsabers.
The 501st pilot and trooper each have their own helmet and paint design as well as eye color on their faces. They each are painted the blue and white 501st colors and come with a blaster and binoculars.
Standard for LEGO mini-figures. Pong Krell has two extra arms with hinged articulation, and the head has none.
Two double-bladed lightsabers, a blaster and binoculars.
This is an excellent set and you should get it to commemorate Pong Krell. Or you can wait to see if Hasbro ever makes him, which is yet to be announced.
