Loo-Kee & Kowl 2-Pack are Mattel’s chase figure set for 2014 as part of the Princess Of Power 30th Anniversary. They are available exclusively on Mattycollector.com throughout the year. Just like Spirit Of Hordak, no one but Mattel knows when this set will pop up for sale and the only way to guarantee you get it is to sit in front of the computer on weekdays from 9am-5pm PST without doing anything else. Most fans are fine with chase figures, but most are not. While fans are split on this idea, Mattel is doing this again with two characters that not every fan will want. As far as choosing the right character this year, Mattel made a good decision to use Loo-Kee as his species is known for hiding and popping up when you least expect it.
Loo-Kee was first shown at SDCC 2013 at Mattel’s booth and used in a photo contest. The contest was to snap a picture of him, then be the first one to post it on the Mattycollector forums each day and you would win a free Masters Of The Universe Classics 2014 subscription. Following Loo-Kee’s reveal, The Four Horsemen posted an image of him on SourceHorsemen.com in October 2013, which was a report originally coming from us. At SDCC 2013, Toyguru stated multiple times that there are no plans for Loo-Kee. While at the time he probably was not allowed to say otherwise, it’s good to see that Mattel found a way to release him.

Sculpt & Paint:
Loo-Kee features an all new sculpt and is only 2-1/4″ tall. The figure is more of a PVC than an actual action figure in the Classics line as his only articulation are his swivel arms. He is painted with tan skin, blue hair, tail and boots, red suspenders, and rainbow bands around his wrists and legs.
Kowl is a repaint in his Filmation colors from the End Of Wars Weapons Pak from 2013. This release does include a figure stand which gives the the illusion of flight. He is painted in orange, brown, white, and rainbow blue/yellow and pink in his inner ears.

Loo-Kee –
Real Name: Petraut Edeltran
Loo-Kee is a humorous Etherian cherub imp from deep within Whispering Woods. He travels throughout Etheria and watches out for She-Ra and her friends. He is always on the side of the forces of good yet never participates in an open conflict. His powers were bestowed by Lighthope allowing allowing him to hide out and alert his friends to danger. He enjoys telling stories with morals to ensure a tale’s full value and clarity is understood by all. Watch out! You never know where he might be hiding!
Kowl –
Kowl, the know-it-all owl of Etheria is a great friend and ally to She-Ra. He can answer all questions asked of him. After his tribe was attacked by Horde invaders, he allied with the Great Rebellion and is a particular close friend of the arror-man Bow.
Overall:
As far as finding a way to release the smaller characters, Mattel is doing a great job. We were very happy to see Loo-Kee’s reveal at New York ToyFair 2014 and we hope to see more of the smaller characters in the future. However, the $20 price tag that this 2-pack has is a bit much for what you are getting. While Loo-Kee is an all new sculpt and most likely has limited production, we would have liked to see one add-on bonus (accessory?) to wet the appetites of fans a little more with this set.
