Hasbro’s new G.I. Joe Kre-O line got our attention this year with the upcoming Terrordrome playset coming out later this year. Before finishing this review, we asked Hasbro if the Firebat would fit inside the Terrordrome just like the vintage toy, and were were pleased to see that their answer was yes.
Ever since Hasbro started the G.I. Joe Kre-O line, we suspected that playsets like the Terrordrome were possible in this scale compared to the much larger 4″ scale at this time. It’s great to see classic G.I. Joe vehicles and playsets make it back to retail in our form or another, and we hope to see Hasbro continue this with a U.S.S. F.L.A.G.G. kre-o set down the road.
The Firebat Attack set has 292 pieces and includes a Firebat, Cobra Pilot, Bazooka, Recondo, and Wolverine.
Availability: April 2014
Firebat – The Firebat features an opening cockpit, 2 missiles and swivel wings. The wings can be put in an open position during flight, and a closed position to fit inside the Terrordrome (more on that when it’s released!).
Cobra Pilot – Includes a helmet, pistol, and a very detailed paint scheme representing the character.
Bazooka – Includes a helmet, missile launcher, snack bar and a removable vest.
Recondo – Since he is driving the Wolverine, Hasbro should have replaced him with Cover Girl. He includes a removable hat and a rifle.
Wolverine – It is great to see the Wolverine make a return, and we hope to see it re-released in 4″ figure scale to go with Cover Girl. The vehicle features 6 missiles and a removable chain saw. The missiles can fire by pressing down on the back buttons.
Overall:
This is an excellent set, but we are disappointed that Cover Girl was not included to drive the Wolverine. Those of you planning to purchase the Terrordrome, would need to purchase this set in order to own the Firebat.
Highly Recommended.
