Transformers Age Of Extinction Scorn Review

Transformers Age Of Extinction Scorn 08

The Dinobots make a triumphant return this year in Transformers Age Of Extinction. While the movie is not released until June 27th, Hasbro went ahead and released the toys over a month early starting with an online launch on May 12th, then a brick & mortar launch on May 17th. The problem is that a lot of brick & mortar stores did not get in any of these toys on May 17th, which left many collectors and fans of the Transformers brand left without being able to purchase these in stores on the day of release. For years Hasbro has been having distributions problems on their products and the fact that you could not buy new Transformers toys on May 17th in many stores (including Target, Wal-Mart and Toys “R” Us) is an embarrassment for Hasbro. They should look at their distribution problems and start fixing these errors to avoid future mistakes.

We were only able to find these at Toys “R” Us on May 17th, and we received reports from readers also having the same problems we were.

Autobot Scorn is the Spinosaurus of the group and is available as a deluxe class for $14.99.

Availability: May 2014

Sculpt:

Scorn features an all new sculpt and is a deluxe class figure. In beast mode, he has a rubber spine and tail, and a head that has both swivel-hinged articulation at the neck. It is somewhat difficult to get him to stand up straight as the legs stay bent and he’s a bit top heavy with the long neck and tail.

In robot mode, he is solid and the design reminds us of Beast Wars Megatron, as the left arm is the tail and the right arm is the head. Like Slug, he also has a visor for eyes with no mouth. The articulation is limited with a swivel-hinged tail, hinged shoulders, hinged elbows, ball jointed hips and hinged knees. The head is also ball jointed.

The figure is painted red, bronze, and grey.

Accessories:

1 sword.

Overall:

Scorn is an excellent figure and we really like the solid robot mode and design of him in both modes. However, we would have liked to see the legs longer and more articulated to create better poses in beast mode.

Highly Recommended.
