The Transformers Collectors’ Club free membership incentive figure for 2014 is Maximal-Rampage (Protoform X). A beloved character from the Transformers Beast Wars show from the 1990’s. While Rampage was killed in the season finale of the show, the club resurrected Rampage in toy form for their Transformers Timelines line.

Sculpt & Paint:
Maximal-Rampage uses the same mold as Transformers Prime First Edition Deluxe Megatron figure, with a retooled head to look like Rampage. Usually in all of our reviews when the club re-uses a mold from Transformers Prime, a kids aimed toy line, we disagree with that decision. However, this Rampage figure is excellent and we are very pleased with all the deco they used.
The main problem with him is the size of the head. We understand that the smaller sized head is needed for this mold, but it’s also disproportional to the body. While the head sculpt is superb and features the likeness of Rampage, a slightly larger head is needed. One idea would be to make a slightly larger head that fits over the smaller, and using the same likeness of the character to better fit proportionally to the body, and sell it separately to club members if they choose to purchase it. Since that will probably never happen, it’s still a great figure. But has the one major flaw that’s very noticeable.
The deco on his is superb. The figure is painted in red, with orange sprayed over it giving it a lot more definition. There is also a “X” painted on his chest, which is a very nice touch to the name “Protoform X”. He’s also painted in black and purple, with silver on the head and stomach.

Overall:
Rampage is an excellent figure despite the flaws that we mentioned. Your best bet to obtain one is on the secondary market, as membership incentive figures won’t be sold to the general public from the club.
