Masters Of The Universe Classics Extendar Review

Masters Of The Universe Classics Extendar 01

Extendar makes his long anticipated debut into Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Classics toyline. With one more year to go and the fate of the 2015 subscription hanging in the balance, it’s all up to the fans to subscribe and support your favorite characters! Currently, Mattel are offering the 2015 subscriptions so make sure to subscribe!

Extendar was a character that we did not own back in the 1980’s, so getting him now is a real treat for us. The concept of a knight on Eternia is an interesting one. With Castles, magic, dragons, or even magic dragons, it would only make sense that a knight resembling the armor from Earth would be part of that world.

Availability: June 2014

Sculpt & Paint:

Extendar uses an all new sculpt and includes extensions for his neck, arms, legs, and torso to recreate the vintage action gimmick to extend his body. His chest and face armor are made of soft plastic and are also removable. The extra armor added on his legs and arms makes him look bulkier compared to the standard MOTUC figure.

The extensions included can be placed on the body by removing the torso, head, feet, and hands, and placing the correct extension to the correct part of the body. In the extended form, he stands 9-1/2″ tall. The torso extension is the trickiest to get on as the part to extend is uses a hexagon shape and not round. The neck extension can only be put on by removing the armor, and then removing the head and placing the extension.

The head sculpt is robotic looking with shapes make makes him look expressionless. If he ever had a different face, Hordak’s experiment made him all machine looking but very different compared to Roboto.

His shield can fold up on all 4 sides and has a similar pattern to it at the center to the extensions.

Extendar is painted parle white, gold, red belt, and has a red shield.

Articulation:

Ball-jointed head, ball-jointed shoulders, swivel biceps, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel hands, swivel torso, ball-jointed hips, hinged knees, rocker

Accessories:

Fold out shield, lance, extensions for neck, arms, legs, and torso.

Bio:

Real Name: Doodon
An Etherian athlete of great renown, Doodon was tricked by Hordak® into entering his Experimentation Matrix. Here he was transformed and grafted with cybernetic parts allowing him to extend his limbs and body to great proportions. Dubbed Extendar™, he escaped The Evil Horde® before the foul effects had fully taken hold. But to his great regret, his best friend was also transformed and unlike Extendar™, Dragstor was unable to escape from Hordak’s clutches. Extendar™ eventually traveled with She-Ra® to Eternia® and joined the renegade Masters of the Universe®. Confronted by his enemies, Extendar™ reeeeches new heights, transforming into a superstrong warrior!

Overall:

Extendar is an excellent figure and we like how The Horsemen recreated the vintage gimmick. The vintage toy’s arms, legs, torso, and neck could extend, and to do that this time he was given extensions just like Mekaneck was.

Highly Recommended.
