Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 Movie Splinter Figure Review

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 Movie Splinter Figure 05

Playmates Toys new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Movie 2014 basic action figure Splinter will be in stores starting on July 13th, 2014. This is an advanced look at Splinter as the movie line is not available to purchase just yet.

Disclosure – Special thanks to Playmates Toys for sending Splinter along to us to review.

Release Date: July 13th, 2014 (Out Now!)

Packaging:

The packaging is a standard blister card with an image of the four Turtles on the front.

On the back of the packaging, Splinter is shown with some slight paint differences including a yellow robe, dark blue karate uniform, black hair, and more pink deco on the face. Instead, he has a tan robe, black karate uniform, and grey and pink hair that’s the same deco as the head.

Sculpt & Paint:

Splinter features an all new sculpt and features a black karate uniform sculpted over a tan robe. The material is made of soft plastic and is all one piece. The arms are not sculpted to the uniform and are part of the arm attached to the figure at the shoulder joint. The necklace is made of rubber and is removable around the head. There are symbols on the chest of the uniform as well as the back. The karate uniform has lines that give it texture and the symbols are sculpted on, and not simply painted on. The arms can swivel at the elbows and the shoulders are ball-jointed. The head however stays in that slanted position and can only swivel. The legs are ball jointed, but the robe interferes with most of that articulation. The tail and hands can also swivel.

His sword can be stored in the sheath and cannot be connected to the body, and can only be held.

His skin is painted in grey and the head is mostly grey with some pink deco. His flip flops have some paint bleeding from the toes and also not painted black at the bottom, and instead they are painted the same grey color as the body.

Articulation:

Swivel head, ball-jointed shoulders, swivel elbows, swivel wrists, ball-jointed hips, swivel tail.

Accessories:

Sword, sheath.

Overall:

Splinter is a decent figure, but if Playmates Toys had painted him the same as the back of the packaging that would have given him a much better appeal.

Recommended to children only.
