Hasbro’s San Diego Comic-Con Star Wars The Black Series 6″ Jabba The Hutt exclusive is one of the most sought after Star Wars toys of 2014. This is because this version includes the throne accessories and includes Salacious Crumb, cardboard Han Solo in Carbonite on the side, and an exclusive packaging and converts into a diorama.
Unfortunately if you want to own the throne accessories, the only way to get them is to buy this set as the regular version of Jabba will only include Jabba and nothing else. It is unfortunate that Hasbro decided to go this route as paying $39.99 for just Jabba at retail seems a bit overpriced. With the overall success of the line in its 1 year, we look forward to additional oversized figures like Jabba and vehicles.
Availability: July 2014
The SDCC exclusive packaging is a rectangle box that opens up to reveal Jabba’s throne room. The front flap recreates Jabba’s opening doors and also becomes the drop down trap to the Rancor pit. Just above that is Jabba with the cardboard Han Solo in Carbonite that is removable. There is also room for additional figures like Boba Fett in the throne room.
Jabba The Hutt is made of soft rubber and plastic with tons of sculpted texture showing the folds in his skin. His mouth can open by pulling the either arm down. He also has rotation in his head, elbow swivel-hinged and swivel wrists articulation.
Salacious Crumb is an all new figure with swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged neck, swivel-hinged hips and tail. He is made of soft rubber and plastic. He has a great sculpt and we really like how well he can fit on Jabba’s tail.
The railing is light weight, hollow and made with cheap plastic with the middle glued together, but not that well as it can almost split open. The frog juicer is made of stronger plastic and has a tube with a mouth piece that you attach to the top.
Despite the cheapness of the throne railing, the packaging, Jabba and Salacious Crumb are all great and we really like how well made and the amount of detail they have.
