Originally planned as Mattel’s Club Infinite Earth’s tier 1 subscriber exclusive figure, Mattel had to change direction since the summer of 2013 subscription sales only made it to 60% of the minimum needed to continue the line. Mattel offered this figure as their San Diego Comic-Con 2014 exclusive instead.
At the time of this review, this is the last day of the Club Eternia subscription sales, which are hopefully very close if not over the 100% mark to continue that line. We are asking for fans to rally on this day as we don’t want to see Masters of the Universe Classics end the way that DC Infinite Earths did. We can do this! Subscribe now!
Prison containment suit Doomsday was a very popular figure at SDCC and Mattel thought they sold out of him since he was not listed on Mattycollector until the last minute. We were very happy to see him listed to give fans that were not at SDCC a chance to purchase one. If this version does not appeal to you, you will be happy to know that Mattel recently announced the Unleashed Doomsday figure will be offered in November or December of 2014. This is because sales of DC Infinite Earths have been strong in 2014 even without the subscription, Mattel will be giving fans one last figure.

Sculpt & Paint:
Doomsday is sculpted in his prison containment suit as seen in the pages of DC Comics. The tubes and containment harness over his body are very detailed and the prison suit has a combination of smooth and textured folds. The figure is completely covered by this suit and even his eyes are covered with goggles.
The silver and grey tubing and containment harness essentially work for the character as does his 9-1/2″ height as this tyrant if famous for being the only character to have killed Superman.

Overall:
While we are disappointed that Doomsday didn’t ship in March 2014 as the subscriber exclusive had the subscription reached its 100% mark, we are still pleased to see that Doomsday was made.
