The LEGO Ghostbusters Ecto-1 set is one of the hottest selling and hard to find sets at stores as we’ve noticed it selling out almost as soon as it is put out on the shelves. This looks promising for future Ghostbusters offerings by LEGO and we are thrilled to see the Ecto-1 back on toy shelves. In case you are still looking for one, LEGO Shop has it in stock.
The Ecto-1 was originally a LEGO Ideas project and designed by Brent Waller. Recently, he also pitched the Ghostbusters Firehouse idea that reached the required 10,000 votes for LEGO to consider making it (as we reported here).
Unfortunately, the Ecto-1 released by LEGO was scaled down a bit compared to the original concept by Brent Waller, as he showed the world is his own comparison gallery that we shared with you here.
Availability: June 2014
Ecto-1 is scaled down from the original concept submitted through Lego Ideas, and can only seat 3 of the 4 included minifigures (in the gallery we showed two figures inside). The vehicle measures 7″ long, 2″ wide, and 3″ in height. It includes 508 pieces inside the box, minifigures of Egon Spengler, Ray Stanz, Peter Venkman, and Winston Zeddemore, proton packs for each figure, a ghost trap (that’s not movie accurate), two and a display base for the figures.
The vehicle opens by listing up the roof of the car to seat the figures inside. There is also enough room for one of the proton backs in the truck.
Overall:
Ecto-1 is an amazing LEGO set and we like how well it was designed. We do wish it would seat all 4 mini figures, include Slimer, and proton streams.
Highly Recommended.
