Mattel’s DC Infinite Earths line is coming to a close with the second to last figure of Conner Kent Superboy that was meant to be in the subscription, and Damien Wayne coming later this year. This is not including the Super Powers figures (except for Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman that shipped this month as well), as well as Unleashed Doomsday.
Conner Kent Superboy was sculpted a couple of years ago and was supposed to be part of DC Universe Classics wave 13 according to Toyguru, so it only makes sense that Mattel would want to release this figure. Originally he was meant to be a 50/50 split with “Reign of the Supermen” version of Superboy. There was also supposed to be a 6″ Young Justice Superboy with the black shirt and blue pants along with Miss Martian that Mattel had provided a pre-order for, but that was also shelved as it did not meet the minimum pre-order. So this figure could actually fit into your Young Justice and DC Universe Classics 6″ collections.
Availability: September 2014
Sculpt & Paint:
Conner Kent features a newly tooled head and a reused body with his iconic 2000’s blue jeans and black tee shirt with the “S” logo painted on his chest. His head sculpt is good, but not great. It does match the characters likeness to an extent, but it definitely looks a bit off. His hair is painted black with blue highlights.
He also stands taller at 6 1/2″ compared to other DC Universe Classics figures and this works against him being that he’s a member of the Teen Titans.
Articulation:
Standard for DCUC.
Accessories:
None.
Overall:
Connor Kent is an excellent figure and we are very sad to be one figure closer to the end of this line. We fought hard last summer to promote the subscription in an effort to save the line another year or two, but alas it did not happen and this year Mattel is wrapping up this style of DC figures forever. This is such as a shame as it compliments Marvel Legends so well and we feel that no other DC line will be this good in the 6″ scale. We really wish that subscription got the other 40% needed sign-ups. Having said that, we believe that the DC Universe Classics/ DC Infinite Earths line are action figure museum pieces so make sure you pick up the final figures of the line.
Highly Recommended.
