Diamond Select Toys gave out a free Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Leonardo Minimates figure to those that stopped by their booth at San Diego Comic-Con 2014. Nickelodeon also gave out an orange Michelangelo Minimates figure at their booth to attendees. Both Minimates figures are the first one’s that were offered in the line as these have yet to hit store shelves.
To remind readers, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Minimates will all be blind bagged (not blind boxed) so you will not know what you are buying until you open it. While blind bags can be interesting, they can also make it hard to find the figure(s) that you’re missing and you might end up spending more than you normally would on the line.
Availability: July 2014
He comes in a clear polybag so you know what is inside, and the polybag has the SDCC 2014 text on the label to show it is an exclusive at the show.
Sculpt & Paint:
Leonardo uses the standard Minimates sculpt and is in a blue translucent plastic. The figure stands at 2-1/8″ in height and is fairly detailed with wrist and ankle bandages, a sheath, headband, belt and strap around his body. He also has some detailed grooves on the shell, sheath and bandages. The shell can be removed by popping off the head and lifting it up. Once removed, you see that he uses the standard Minimates body.
His Katana’s are made of cheap plastic and they are prone to bending and can also be tricky to place in his hand.
Ball-jointed head, ball-jointed shoulders, hinged elbows, swivel wrists, swivel waist, ball-jointed hips, and hinged knees.
Leonardo is an excellent Minimates figure and we are looking forward to the line. From our NYCC coverage last week and having seen these in person, this line looks great.
Special thanks to Diamond Select Toys for providing Leonardo for us to review.
