Sweet Bee, along with Eldor and Club Etheria Light Hope are the last figures to be released under the management of Scott Neitlich. Sweet Bee shipped only to Club Etheria subscribers and was not available for day-of purchase. Based on the figure, and the Filmation series from 1986 by Mattel, Sweet Bee is updated in the Classics treatment and the Four Horsemen have proven once again how well they can make any character in this style. While she might not be as popular as some of the other Princess of Power characters, her sculpt, color scheme and design all come together nicely and she makes a great addition to the line.
If anyone is interested, we have the Club Etheria subscriber exclusive Light Hope and almost all of the Club Etheria figures for sale at our store. We can do better on Light Hope if you purchase additional figures.
Availability: October 2014
Sculpt & Paint:
Sweet Bee uses shared parts with existing Prince of Power figures done in Classics style, and includes a newly tooled head, wings, skirt, chest armor, and stinger gun. The wings are made of translucent pink plastic and have texture on the outside part of it. The shape of the wings also remains the same from the vintage 1986 figure. Her wings are attached to her back using pins and her long hair limits the range of motion the wings can go. Her helmet does not have this problem as the hair is not connected to it.
The handle of her stinger gun is recessed and comes over her arm and the shield is repainted from previous figures. She also includes her helmet from the Filmation series (that was also used by Mattel as a hint of her upcoming release).
Sweet Bee is painted in a yellow, black, orange, and pink color scheme.
Articulation:
Standard for MOTUC.
Accessories:
Shield, Stinger gun, Helmet.
Overall:
Sweet Bee is an excellent figure and has a lot of new parts to make her stand out on your POP shelf. Even if you’re not a fan of the character, there is a lot to like about this figure.
Highly Recommended.
