Diamond Select Toys posted the next round of fans questions for their Marvel Select line:

It’s another Ask DST with our resident M.O.D.O.Q. (Mental Organism Designed Only for Questions), Diamond Select Toys President DSTChuck! We regularly receive a massive pile of letters about our Marvel Select action figures, from the Age of Ultron to the Sinister Six, and DSTChuck will “A.I.M.” to answer them all! Read on, in the Mighty Marvel Manner!

Jeff W.
Hello first I love the DST select avengers and Iron Man figure line. Any chance you guys will make The Avengers/Shield QuinJet and Shield Helicarrier?

DSTChuck: I am sorry, Jeff, but we are not currently allowed to make vehicles for Marvel properties.

Matt S.
I’m a big fan of the Marvel Select line. I currently have almost all of the Avengers, unmasked Cap from Winter Soldier has to be my favorite thus far, but I’m collecting the movie figures, and may branch into the comic editions as well. I have the comic version of the Natasha. With Age of Ultron coming out in May 2015, I’m looking forward to the next figures. I know you are limited in what you can do with licensing, but I bet a lot of collectors would like to see a movie version of the Black Widow, and from the concept art I’ve seen The Vision might make a nice addition to the line.

DSTChuck: Matt, glad you like the line – the comic stuff is pretty popular as well, give it a try. The Age of Ultron movie looks to be HUGE , I don’t know how we could possibly make enough characters to make everyone happy, but we’ll try.

Ryan L.
Is it on the horizon to model a Dr. Strange toy? I think a well sculpted model would be well received.

DSTChuck: I think Dr. Strange is a character we would consider, for sure.

John T.
Hey DST! Just wanted to ask if any Spider-man toys are being planned. It would be great to see a Spider-Gwen, and Penny Parker from Spider-verse, or Spider-man 2099 (seeing as he is resurging in popularity) who I would love to see. Also, please consider making a Scorpion (as he is currently in Spider-man 2099 with Smythe upgrades), and Mysterio. Thanks again. Real excited for Marvel Zombie Magneto next month, and Carnage whenever he releases!

DSTChuck: John, for sure we look to Spidey stuff for any line planning we do. I do think going that deep into Spidey would be difficult with so many other cool characters out there we have not touched on.

James C.
Good Afternoon, Chuck. I am staunch collector of the marvel select action figures. I have a few questions so I’ll get right to the point. QUESTION #1: SINCE THE AVENGERS 2 MOVIE IS COMING OUT NEXT YEAR, WILL YOU BE PLANNING ON MAKING COMIC VERSIONS OF QUICKSILVER, SCARLET WITCH, HULKBUSTER IRON AND VISION? QUESTION #2: WILL YOU GUYS PLAN ON MAKING A SCARLET JOHANSSON BLACK WIDOW? QUESTION NUMBER#3: ARE YOU GUYS PLANNING MAKING A MORE MODERN VERSION OF WOLVERINE AND CYCLOPS IN THE FUTURE? QUESTION#4: ARE THERE ANY PLANS ON MAKING A CLASSIC NAMOR THE SUB-MARINER IN HIS GREEN SPEEDOS WITH HIS TRIDENT? QUESTION #5: IS THERE A STRONG POSSIBLY OF BISHOP, ROGUE, PSYLOCKE, ARCHANGEL, BEAST, ICEMAN, BEAST, WONDER MAN, APOCALYPSE, AND MS. MARVEL FIGURES BEING MADE NEXT YEAR? THANKS AND MAKE MINE MARVEL!

DSTChuck: Here you go James.
1. I don’t really know how much comic stuff we will do of the Avengers during the movie time frame. That’s tricky with Marvel sometimes – they like to promote the movie looks at that time.
2. We’re looking at it for sure…seems to us it’s about time, but sales is hesitant.
3. Nothing planned right now for them but I think everyone by now knows Wolvo is a DST favorite.
4. Not at this time, but he has not been eliminated from consideration by any means.
5. We’re pretty close to locking 2015 already, if you can believe that. Some of the ones you ask about have been considered, and I think if we did more releases in a year some of them would have been done already.

John T.
Deadpool movie has been announced! A movie based figure must be made! Please?

DSTChuck: That’s a LONG way to go from now, we’ll see.

Bryan B.
Dear Chuck and DST Folks! I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I LOVE your Marvel Select figure line! With DST releases, it’s been difficult to complete any one particular character group or faction. You’ve released a classic Thor, Captain America, and Savage Hulk, and there’s a Giant Man BAF out there, so where’s the GOLDEN AGE IRON MAN, (although I am reluctant to ask for yet ANOTHER Iron Man figure), to round out the original Avengers? With X-Men, you’ve released several characters, but never an Angel, Beast, or Iceman figure, (personally, I think Iceman has the most potential for “coolness”), to round out, at least, the core group. The Fantastic Four – Sue Storm isn’t necessary, as we can image she on our shelves, but just “invisible”, and there’s a non-DST Mr. Fantastic figure out there that fits the scale. You released a “fantastic” Thing figure, but what about a Human Torch figure to “complete” the team? Or the Sinister Six? There are different line-ups, yes, but we could REALLY use a Scorpion figure, or a Sandman figure? I don’t really know how your licensing works, or which characters you’re “allowed” to pursue, but it would be great to see some of these made. Is “group competion” a factor in your character decision making? Any plans? For any of those? Whaddya say? I’ll buy them! I promise!

DSTChuck: I’m sorry, Brian, but with the limited nature of the line, in both production quantity and number of SKU we can release, it’s not really a team-building line. IF we can, we do try to link them or build when we can, but it’s not the main direction. Spidey villains are something that always gets consideration. As for selection, we just use a big dartboard.

Alex M.
Hello, I’m curious if a Marvel Select Kingpin will be coming down the lines to go with the fantastic existing Daredevil and Spidey figures. Also, I would personally love a Marvel Select Professor X, preferably Jim Lee or Giant Size X-Men era, because my X-Men collection will truly never be complete without a comic version of Xavier… any possibility of these? Cheers, Alex.

DSTChuck: Alex, I think Kingpin would be cool and Prof X is one we’ve considered from time to time, but there always seems to be a more compelling interesting character to put in the line. I would imagine their time will come.

Tim C.
Hi Chuck, love your work. Can we expect to see any villain figures from the Amazing Spider-man 2 movie? Or any from the coming Sinister 6 movie? If not, please do!!! I would buy those up in a heartbeat. Thanks!

DSTChuck: We were not able to do any villains for Spidey 2. The studio did not clear likeness rights for Electro, and at the time we were gearing up for the sculpts, the Green Goblin was still a “secret”.

Liam M.
Hey there. I know you guys probably can’t let on to too much, but any hints on how many Marvel Select figures are being done for Avengers – Age of Ultron? I know a lot of fans have been wanting a Black Widow. Additionally how about Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch and Vision? Perhaps one of those could be a Disney Store exclusive, and that way, you guys could get the entire movie team out there, when you combine that lineup with some of the other figures that have been released over the past couple years. I know Marvel Select isn’t really a team building line, and that’s fine, but maybe it could be, just this once? Thanks!

DSTChuck: I don’t know how deep we’ll be able to go into Age of Ultron – it’s such a deep movie, I think we could do a year’s worth of figure from just that movie. It would be much easier to build the Avengers line if they did not keep changing the look of the core characters.

Ricky B.
Two questions about the Marvel Select Carnage: 1. The release date said winter 2015. Will that be the end of 2015, or early 2015? Jan. or Feb. I hope.
2. Do you know what the three interchangeable heads for Carnage will be?
Thanks.

DSTChuck: Ricky we hope Carnage will be out the end of 2014 or early 2015, if all goes well, it’s a little too early to nail it down to a month. By now, there should be plenty of pictures from the NYCC booth with the full Carnage prototype on display for the first time.

Gustavo G.
I’d like to know how soon are the Disney three exclusives coming out?!

DSTChuck: Gustavo, for the most part Disney wants us to announce their new figures when they are in stores.

Euan W.
Hey again, Really big thanks for answering my last two questions but when do the ‘Disney Store Exclusive’ on marvel selects run out because there are figures I want that are bound by this like ‘Agent Venom’ which looks sic along with ‘Superior Spider man and ‘Electro’ all looking great but no access if I don’t want to pay the high prices over the internet. Keep up the beating your competitions in sculpt and paint.

DSTChuck: Euan, they really do not run out. We just have an ongoing dialogue with them, and when they decide they are done running the figure, they allow us to offer them to comic stores and others. In the past they have been really cool about it… SO glad you dig what we’re doing, though.

Danilo R.
Guys how about a nice classic looking Iron Man in Marvel Select? I know we’ve had at least 5 renditions of the character in the line but at least 3 of them are movie editions or Ultimate universe and the only 616 comic editions we have so far looks really dated, it’s really thin and it’s based on the extremis arc. You gave us a classic looking Cap, Thor, Hawkeye and Widow some time ago, please go classic for Iron Man too!

DSTChuck: Danilo, I ASSUME you mean a Bob Layton look? We did pitch that to Disney, but they really liked the Bleeding Edge, and in fact, funny you say, they think the ’80s look is dated… SO it’s just a matter of your perspective. As you say, we’ve done lots of Iron Man, so I would LOVE to do a Layton Iron Man at some point.

Damien R.
Dear Diamond Select. Marvel Select future releases I would love to see Mysterio, Hammerhead, Shocker, Puppet Master & Kurse comic book style. Any of the above would rock your world and collectors like me.

DSTChuck: Those might be a little tough. We never say never, but none of them are planned for 2015. Sorry.
