It’s been a big year with 30th Anniversary celebrations for franchises including Ghostbusters and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and it’s also the 30th anniversary for A Nightmare On Elm Street. Freddy gets the Ultimate treatment from NECA Toys in celebration of his 30th anniversary of A Nightmare of Elm Street. This figure is based from the original movie and features the likeness to actor Robert Englund.

Sculpt & Paint:
Freddy comes in an all-new sculpted articulated lower body and has a reused torso, arms, hands, and heads. NECA upgraded the previous Freddy action figures and gave this one articulated legs compared to no articulation at all. His legs have ball-hinged thighs and knees, and ball-jointed ankles. Also includes a ball-jointed head, ball-jointed chest, ball-hinged shoulders, ball-hinged elbows, and ball-jointed wrists.
The rest of the body are reused and he has the same great sculpting as previous figures. His left hand is interchangeable with a hand that has two fingers cut off and leaking green blood. Also included is a dead skin mask that can only fit over the closed mouth head that comes attached to the body inside the packaging.
One aspect about the figure that we wish had articulation is the glove. Since most of the figure has reused parts, it would have made sense for NECA to update the glove with articulated claw fingers.
Freddy is painted with a burned beige skin with red flesh showing, his signature red and green striped Christmas sweater, dark blue pants with a grey wash, black shows, and a brown glove and silver claws.
Accessories:
3 heads (closed mouth, open mouth grimace and skull face), dead skin mask, tongue phone, alternate left hand, and a fedora.
Overall:
Freddy is an excellent figure and we are thrilled with the continued great quality that NECA keeps providing. We hope to see more Ultimate versions of horror icon characters like Jason Voorhees, Hellraiser, Michael Myers, Candyman, among others.
