At long last, we are able to bring you the first of our reviews of The Four Horsemen’s Gothitropolis: Ravens action figures sold through Kickstarter in August 2013. We are launching the first review with the Kickstarter exclusive Minotaur The Duck and Eagales. We will have a review available for each of the 13 characters plus add-ons and accessories in the weeks ahead.
The Four Horsemen accomplished a lot in their Kickstarter which raised over $303,000 and unlocked all planned figures, add-ons, and accessories in the stretch goals. It’s truly an accomplishment considering the times we are living in.
For those of you that are not familiar with their work, they are the sculptors that worked on the Spawn action figures for McFarlane Toys in the 1990’s, DC Universe Classics, Masters of the Universe Classics for Mattel, and many other projects over the years. Their Gothitropolis line is one of their own independently owned lines that they started back in 2009 with Scarabus and his variants. They have come along way since their days at McFarlane Toys and we are looking forward to their upcoming Mythic Legions 4″ action figures that will be available to order through Kickstarter at some point possibly in the near future.

Sculpt & Paint:
Minotaur The Duck was available as a Kickstarter exclusive and was only offered with certain packages. His head sculpt is of a duck with a non-removable black helmet with horns attached to it. His body is sculpted with sculpted texture representing feathers on his body, and his black and silver armor with lots of great detail. Around his belt are a variety of non-removable accessories including a horn in the back. He comes with 3 sets of interchangeable feet including the webbed duck feet. Available as an add-on are his white wings that are connected through ports on his back by removing the smaller wings. The wings are ball-jointed/hinged and have one swivel joint at the top, and are sculpted with detailed texture. He stands at 7-1/2″ tall from the top of horn to the toes.
Eagales (The Screaming Eagle) is the patriotic character of the Ravens and comes with an America flag that is placed over his shoulders covering the upper part of his chest and his back. The flag is also torn at the bottom. His head sculpt is an eagle with an open screaming mouth, black eyes, and is painted white with the rest of the body painted in dark brown. The armor is painted in metallic blue, red, gold, silver, and white, with the belt of accessories sculpted around it. Available as an add-on are his dark brown wings that are connected through ports on his back by removing the smaller wings. The wings are ball-jointed/hinged and have one swivel joint at the top, and are sculpted with detailed texture. He stands just over 6-1/2″ tall from head to toes.
We almost had a stroke when our Eagales figure’s waist popped right off the joint, but thankfully was easily fixed. This is after using the hair dryer that the Horsemen suggested to do on all joints to loosen them up. This is just a reminder to our readers to make sure to be extra careful with these figures and to use that hair dryer!
Articulation:

Minotaur The Duck and Eagales are excellent figures and well worth the long wait these required. We are exceptionally fond of both of these figures, which is why we started with these.
