G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Figure Subscription Service 3.0 Spearhead Review

G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club Figure Subscription Service 3.0 Spearhead 01

The G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club shipped out the third wave of The Figure Subscription Service 3.0 consisting of Spearhead and Vypra.

It’s great that the G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club are continuing to help fans finish off the vintage ARAH collection in today’s style with adding vintage characters like Spearhead to the Figure Subscription Service. This is truly a good alternative since Hasbro has otherwise stopped making any new G.I. Joe toys right now, and hopefully they will have something to show fans at JoeCon 2015. Assuming that they actually keep their promise this year and show up for the 51st Anniversary of G.I. Joe. It will look even worse for them should they cancel. But lets go down that road if we get there.

It is possible that Hasbro will release additional G.I. Joe figures in the Fall, with 2-Packs, 3-Packs, and possibly vehicles. It is unclear how sales have performed for Hasbro in 2014, but they should be strong enough at retail standpoint since both kids and collectors are purchasing these.

Availability: February 2015

Sculpt & Paint:

Spearhead is based on the 1988 figure from the vintage A Real American Hero line and uses the same sculpt as the G.I. JoeCon 2013 Exclusive Nocturnal Fire box set. He features an ammo wrapped around his chest, a removable combat vest, and a removable helmet. Around his waist is a loose belt with pouches and small canisters sculpted on it.

The figure is repainted in a tan uniform and an orange wash over it. his gloves and boots are painted brown, as are straps from his vest and backpack. The backpack also has the movie logo on it, which we wish they would change it to the traditional G.I. Joe logo.

Max the bobcat also uses the same mold as the G.I. JoeCon 2013 Exclusive Nocturnal Fire box set and is repainted in an orange and white deco, with black spots.

Articulation:

Standard for modern G.I. Joe figures.

Accessories:

Figure Stand, Assault Rifle, Machine Gun with Bi-pod, Ammo Strip, Assault Rifle with Strap, Machete, Max the Bobcat, Removable Helmet, Removable Vest.

Overall:

Spearhead and Max are excellent figures and a great update to the 1988 vintage toy.

Highly Recommended.
