Wishlist Wednesday – Hasbro G.I. Joe / Transformers Combiner Wars

Hasbro G.I. Joe Cobra Rattler Joins Transformers Combiner Wars 1

Hasbro’s new Transformers Combiner Wars line for 2015 has been mostly positive so far with fans and they just announced a new G.I. Joe / Transformers crossover Legends size vehicle named Decepticon Viper. This is based on the vintage G.I. Joe Cobra Rattler with style and color, and can transform into a robot.

The robot mode includes a Cobra logo on his chest, with a symbol at the center of it that we cannot make out too well. This could be another stepping stone for Hasbro as they are bridging together both the G.I. Joe and Transformers franchises together at retail, and they can even expand this idea to larger Transformers toys such as a Voyager class G.I. Joe Sky Striker and Transformers Jetfire.

In 2012 and 2013, Hasbro released two San Diego Comic-Con box sets focused on both franchises from Marvel Comics. These sets were a big success for Hasbro, and this was also unfortunate for those not able to attend SDCC to obtain these since they are produced in very limited numbers. In most cases, we personally do not care for San Diego Comic-Con exclusives being that they are only obtainable for a small portion of fans, and usually are sold in limited quantities each day, leaving even fewer fans without one at the convention. This is unfortunate, and having such epic exclusives should be more obtainable for those that attend the show, and those that cannot.

What we would like Hasbro to do is continue with the G.I. Joe/Transformers toys in the Combiner Wars toy line, and maybe even make one that is also compatible for at least one 4″ G.I. Joe figure can be stored in. Of course that’ll be a tough sell to retail, being that larger vehicles are slow moving, but how amazing would that be to have a G.I. Joe/Transformers crossover toy, that can store a figure? Or store several figures around the sides like the Snow Cat?

Of course, we don’t want the same thing that Hasbro did for San Diego Comic-Con, and risk another law suit with Harmony Gold-USA. We want Hasbro to create something original for this line and not to base it on what’s come before.

This week, we are asking Hasbro to consider making more G.I. Joe and Transformers crossover toys at retail, and hopefully make one large enough to store one or more figures.
