Hasbro’s 2015 Marvel Legends line-up starts off with their Avengers Infinite Series and includes Thor, Hawkeye, Iron Fist, Machine Man, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, The Sentry, and Odin as the build-a-figure.
The forgotten Marvel hero makes his second debut in Marvel Legends, and his first 6″ from Hasbro. He was first released by Toybiz as a Wal-Mart exclusive figure in two different versions – bearded variant
and clean shaved figure that was part of the Giant Man Build-A-Figure series. This updated figure includes a modern look, better deco, and an overall better sculpt.
Availability: February 2015
Sculpt & Paint:
Sentry features a newly tooled head, cape, and belt, and uses the Hyperion body from Hasbro. The head sculpt is a nice update with long blonde hair with a brown wash, white eyes, and a good likeness to the character. The body base is a good one, as we’ve seen before from Hasbro on several other figures over the past couple of years. The downside here is that the peg hole on the back goes unused at the top, which it would have been nice had they covered it. The cape plugs into the bottom hole on the back, and the upper back and shoulders are also painted blue as the cape, as opposed to having a cape that goes around his shoulders. This is an obvious cutback on plastic that should have been avoided.
The belt is nicely sculpted with a hold and white deco, and painted blue around the hips. It sits loose on the figure as opposed to being sculpted to the body. His costume is painted yellow with an orange wash, and blue boots and forearms.
Articulation:
Standard for Marvel Legends.
Accessories:
Removable cape, arms for Odin.
Overall:
The Sentry is a nice figure, with some minor changes needed such as a cape that wraps around the upper shoulders, and that covers the second peg hole on top.
Highly Recommended.
