The Transformers Collectors’ Club shipped out the first figure of their Figure Subscription Service 3.0 of Carzap and Kreon G.B. Blackrock with Kreo Gas Station/Laser weapon mini playset to those that subscribed.
The Kre-O set includes a sheet with two images on it as a guide to build it, and while they only show two views, it’s somewhat difficult to put together without proper instructions. We ended up with one red piece leftover, and after watching the video that Pete Sinclair of Fun Publications told us about, it made it a lot easier. However, since the set only includes that one sheet, what will happen years down the read when someone buys the set on the secondary market, and not have proper instructions to build the Gas Station/Laser weapon? That’s the kind of thinking that the club needs to do. A video posted on Youtube will eventually become obsolete, while the toy will last many decades.
Availability: May 2015
Sculpt & Paint:
Carzap pays homage to the cancelled Takara Building Block set in the Generation 2 line called “Blocktown”. The original concept in Generation 2 was that Blocktown would include a garage set, which you can also build to become a battle station. As a homage to that, the Kreo blocks become a gas pump/laser blaster block set and includes a G.B. Blackrock Kre-O figure.
He uses the same sculpt as Generations Thrilling 30 Deluxe Class Bumblebee and Nightbeat, and uses the retooled head of Nightbeat. His paint scheme is similar to the cancelled Generation 2 Blocktown toy, with the words Transformers and 95 on the doors written in purple and red, and an Autobot symbol on the hood.
The Kreon mini figure G.B. Blackjack is based on the Marvel Comics Transformers series and was one of the first Humans to side with the Autobots.
In robot mode, Carzap features a ball-jointed head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, ball-jointed hips, swivel thighs, hinged knees, rocker ankles.
Accessories:
Autobot blast that converts to two weapons, and Kreon G.B. Blackrock with Kreo Gas Station/Laser weapon.
Instructions, bio card, sheet with image of the Kreo Gas Station/Laser weapon.
Overall:
Carzap is an excellent figure and we are very happy wit the clubs decision to add him to the subscription. The Generations Classics line expands with another unreleased character, until now.
The Kre-O however needs better instructions other than an instructional video. We also want to point out that G.B. Blackrock is also a much appreciated release. With the subscription price of $49.50 a figure, we wish that the club would include bonus accessories like this with every release.
Recommended.
