The G.I. Joe Collectors’ Club shipped out the last wave of The Figure Subscription Service 3.0 consisting of Big Ben and Crimson Guard Immortal. Also shipped was the 13th free figure exclusive, Frostbite, available to those if you purchased all previous figures.
Availability: May 2015
Sculpt & Paint:
Frostbite is based on the 1985 figure and updated using modern G.I. Joe 25th Anniversary style. He features a new head sculpt and reused parts from existing G.I. Joe figures. He was originally offered with the Snow Cat vehicle, that was recently reissued, and as a mail-in six figure set in 1989 from Hasbro. Frostbite completes the 1985 figure line-up by Hasbro as other figures in the line have been offered in previous years.
Frostbite is also a repaint from the G.I. JoeCon 2015 exclusive Tiger Force Helicopter Crew 3 Pack that was offered back in April, and exclusive to attendees only. So this is the first time that the white deco Frostbite is offered individually. He features a textured fur around his neck, removable goggles, and two holsters for his pistols.
Frostbite is painted based on the 1985 figure, in a white and black deco, with beige fur.
Articulation:
Standard for modern G.I. Joe figures.
Accessories:
G.I. Joe Figure Stand, Wrench (to repair the Snow Cat), removable goggles, sniper rifle, and two pistols.
Overall:
Frostbite is an excellent update to the vintage figure and features a great sculpt, deco, and accessories. It’s likely he will be offered again down the road in a different color scheme, as the club likes to repaint and reuse existing molds as long as they’re based on a vintage release. We hope to see the 1993 version next with white/grey, turquoise, and red.
Highly Recommended.
