Hasbro’s The Black Series 3 3/4″ Commander Doom is based on The Clone Wars Season 6 (Episode 1: The Unknown) appearance with a phase 2 helmet. There is also better distribution seen for this wave compared to previous The Black Series offerings, and more and more toy sightings are being reported around the country. So anyone still looking to acquire this figure, might have an easier time, or you can purchase him at the links below.
Commander Doom was originally planned in a new wave of the cancelled Clone Wars series, which was ultimately aired on Netflix. While the figure was also cancelled, he was brought back in The Black Series along with several other cancelled figures like Commander Wolffe and Captain Rex Phase 2 are also based on The Clone Wars Season 6 episodes.
Availability: May 2015
Sculpt & Paint:
Commander Doom’s is a retool of the new Captain Rex Phase 2 figure also available in this wave, and features a newly tooled head and torso. He also was inspired by the appearance of Marvel’s Dr. Doom with the green and grey armor.
His head sculpt is based on the Phase 2 helmet with lots of sculpted detail with an antenna sticking up the right side of his helmet. On this particular figure, there is some slight green bleeding on the face but this probably an isolated incident or not very common. His torso features a colorful ranking badge on the left chest and he also features two holsters on his sides for the tiny blasters.
Accessories:
2x blasters.
Articulation:
Ball jointed head, ball-hinged shoulders, ball-hinged elbows, ball jointed wrists, swivel waist, hinged hips, ball-hinged knees, ball hinged ankles.
Overall:
Commander Doom is an excellent figure and we are very pleased to see some new Clone Wars figures make it to production. The only slight problem that we noted above was the bleeding on the helmet, but that is probably isolated.
Highly Recommended.
