Wishlist Wednesday – Mattel’s ThunderCats Classics 6″ Line-Up For 2016

One of Mattel’s most exciting announcements this year at San Diego Comic-Con was the Thundercats announcement at the Mattypalozza Panel and these figures are sculpted by The Four Horsemen. Ever since Bandai’s line failed, we have been waiting for a company to bring back this franchise and thankfully Mattel finally came through. Since Masters of the Universe Classics is winding down next year, they need to expand their horizons and offer something different. Now only is Mattel doing ThuderCats, but they are looking at other older franchises such as Food Fighters, Dino Riders, and others that have been dormant for far too long.

The ThunderCats subscription won’t be for sale at least until New York ToyFair in February 2016, and we know that Mumm-Ra (bandaged) is confirmed as the Subscriber exclusive figure. Like Shadow Weaver, this should help drive sales as no one wants to miss out on a Mumm-Ra figure. By offering him as the exclusive, it helps Mattel carry the first year of the line and show fans what they have planned. Now, should they begin the line as they did with Masters of the Universe Classics 2009 line-up, they will hit many of A-list characters such as Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara, Smythe, and others and continue the line into 2017 with not only A-listers, but characters like the Lunatanks as Eric of the Four Horsemen had suggested.

Without further ado, here is our wishlist.

This is what we know:

  • Lion O – July 2016
  • Jackleman –  Aug 2016
  • Mumm-Ra – Sub. Exclusive

Beginning in January 2017-December 2019+, the line can continue on with Vulureman, Lynx-O, Cheetara, Snowman, Mumm-Ra (Transformed), Snarf/Ma-Mutt 2 Pack, Jaga, Tygra, Smythe, WilyKit and WilyKat, Bengali, The Lunataks (Luna/Amok 2 Pack, Alluro, Tug Mug, Chilla, Red-Eye), The Berserkers (Hammerhand, Topspinner, Ram Bam, Cruncher), Spirit of Jaga, Ancient Spirits of Evil, etc. The list can go on to characters also shown a couple of times in the series, but for the most part I think we covered a lot of core characters from the series.
