DC Collectibles shipped out The Riddler, Batman Version 2, and Batgirl figures this week from their Batman: The Animated Series toyline based on the 1990’s Bruce Timm series. These figures are now available at your local comic shop and online retailer, and make sure you are supporting this line as we want DC Collectibles to expand to Superman: The Animated Series, Justice League, Justice League Unlimited, and Batman Beyond. This style of action figures lives on only if people are buying.
Batgirl is based on the episode “Torch Song,” which had originally aired on June 13, 1998 and includes episode specific accessories.
Availability: October 2015
Sculpt:
Batgirl features a thin lean sculpt in a black and yellow batsuit, blue short cape, and long red hair. She stands at roughly 5-1/8″ tall and resembles the character beautifully. It’s a mystery to us why no one could put together that Barbara Gordon is Batgirl, as her head is too exposed, including her hair.
Since her sculpt is thin like Catwoman’s and Poison Ivy’s, she has the tendency to fall over without the use of her stand. Her head sculpt is masked with the lower part of her face showing including her nose and mouth, and her eyes have a mask over it, leaving her eye brows also exposed.
Articulation:
ball-jointed head, ball-hinged shoulders, hinged-swivel elbows, swivel-hinged and removable wrists, hinged-swivel hips, hinged knees, and swivel-hinged ankles.
Accessories:
Five sets of interchangeable hands, batarang, grappling hook, and a figure stand with base.
Overall:
Batgirl is an excellent figure with a great sculpt and likeness to the source material.
Highly Recommended.
