Scott Neitlich, the Director of Marketing for boys action figures and collectors for Jakks Pacific had taken some time from his busy schedule to answer a few questions for us. ToyHypeUSA Exclusive - Interview With Scott Neitlich At Jakks Pacific

1. This is a question regarding the issues surrounding most of the world of Nintendo collectibles. It seems since they are based around the same sku by size, 2.5″ sets, 4″ sets, and 6″ sets, stores have issues with keeping certain figures in stock. The 6″ Metroid and Ganondorf were suppose to be released back in April and sometime this summer as well, but have failed to do so. This issue mostly regards to stores still having 6″ Donkey Kongs and not receiving newer waves because of the same sku numbers. In Canada they have only appeared in two locations, Toronto and Langley and only appeared in 4 out of 50 states in the US. Otherwise people are having to resorted to inflated prices from toywiz, bigbadtoys, and Ebay. Don’t follow the same suit amiibo fell into a year ago, they lost more potential sales in the end, and will lose future customers once their smash series ends.

Editors Note: This readers question was modified with the following follow-up question:

What can Jakks do to help get new products into the hands of collectors looking to buy it at the retail level? Such as buy back old unsold inventory or sell it directly through the Jakks Pacific website?

Essentially, the bottom line with almost any toy line is you will see new figures as soon as the older ones sell through. It is up to retailer to order product, JAKKS (or any toy company) can’t just ship any product. Retailers need to place orders and they usually do this when current stock is sold. One things fans can of course do, beyond purchase product themselves, is help spread the word to other fans about these awesome figures. The faster current figures sell through, the faster new waves are ordered by retailers.

2. Are Sabine, Hera, and Chopper still candidates for the The Star Wars Rebels 18″ line? Or has that window past and are you focusing on the new season of characters such as Ahsoka, Commander Wolffe, Captain Rex, New Inquisitor etc.

Not off the table at all! We are big fans of REBELS and all of the new content/characters. If the BIG FIGS line continues to do well we would love to look at more REBELS characters in time.

3. Has Jakks seen success as far as sales with the 3DIT maker and packs? Are you looking to expand this line with additional properties (The Walking Dead, Masters of the Universe, etc.) down the road, as well as new waves of existing properties in future refills?

Yes 3D-it has done VERY well and we are currently looking into the very awesome future for this really fun character creator toy. We can’t confirm any specific licenses yet, but there are expansions in the works…

4. With now two new movies for the Dragon Ball Z brand (Battle of the Gods, and Resurrection “F”), will Jakks look at this property again and bring back their 5″ figure line?

While JAKKS did work on this brand a few years back, we do not currently have the license and there are no plans for current figures. We simply no longer have the license for Dragon Ball Z. License agreements are not for perpetuity after all!

5. When will Jakks be able to keep up with demand for the Star Wars: The Force Awakens toys currently out?

More product will be shipping all fall and well into the Spring. Wave 2 of Ep 7 figures with Finn, Snowtrooper and TIE Pilot are coming to shelf very soon. Wave 3 won’t be that far behind!
