Out now is a Target Exclusive The Black Series 6″ Poe Dameron and a Riot Control Stormtrooper two pack as part of Hasbro’s continued The Force Awakens toy line that keeps bringing new product surprises as well as store exclusives.
This two pack came as a bit of a shock to us as Hasbro never officially announced that this was coming, and it they didn’t event make any announcement on it back at their New York Comic-Con 2015 ‘Twas The Night Before Preview Party. That has been the gist of Hasbro’s The Force Awakens toy line so far, with no official announcements, and surprise releases. While this is mostly due to Disney, it is unfortunate that all of these toys were first leaked on eBay rather than an official Hasbro party or even in a press release. We are wondering what the thinking was here as this is the only Star Wars toy line to be treated in such a way that no consumer knew beforehand what was coming (on an official channel at least), and this trend is continuing throughout the movie-based toy line as there are no announcements what’s coming after the movie hits.
With that said, details are scarce and rumors are flying. The good news is that this two pack is a really good one, with Poe Dameron being an all new sculpt and the Riot Storm Trooper having that awesome looking shield.

Sculpt & Paint:
Poe Dameron features an all new sculpt, which is definitely a plus since Hasbro did not just reuse parts from Finn. He is sculpted in a brown fighter jacket with a removable fighter helmet. His head sculpt has a very nice and detailed sculpt with a five o’clock shadow. We also noticed that this Poe Dameron figure and the Poe Dameron figure released in wave 2 feature two different heights. It is strange that Hasbro has two of the same character, in the same line with different outfits, and can’t get the height right. Hopefully they’ll catch these types of errors in the future.
The First Order Stormtrooper uses shared parts with existing First Order Stormtroopers, and includes a newly tooled shield and blasters. The shield is difficult to remove, and if you can remove it at all, it also might be difficult to place it back on. The shield also causes the elbow joint not to bend as it should.

Overall:
The Poe Dameron and Riot Control Stormtrooper set is an excellent offering from Hasbro. Both figures have great sculpts, paint deco, and a very good likeness to the characters.
