DC Collectibles released the first wave of their highly anticipated Icons line that fills in the gap for DC fans wanted to buy DC Comics characters in their classic outfits. Since Mattel cancelled their 6″ Classics line sold at retailers as well as exclusively on Mattycollector, there has been a gap as far as this style.
Thankfully, DC Collectibles are filling in that void, which is something we said about the company when we starting reviewing their Batman: The Animated Series and The New Adventures of Batman lines. They’ve been picking up where Mattel failed to continue on.
Of course, the two companies are offering a completely different look and scale for the figures, so don’t get confused that you will be able to put your Icons figures and Mattel’s Classics figures on the same shelf. These are meant to not sync together and while Mattel offered bulkier DC figures, DC Collectibles is offering more of a thinner style of DC figures with using less plastic.
That’s not to say it’s a bad thing, because it’s not. We are big fans of the 6″ figure scale in any shape or form, and DC Collectibles started off with a very promising look wave including Mister Miracle, Batman “Last Rides,” Deadman, and Green Arrow.
Availability: November 2015
Sculpt & Paint:
Mister Miracle measures 5 – 3/4″ tall and is sculpted with a thin/lean body and features interchangeable hands, Miracle disks that can be attacked to his feet, and a nicely detailed plastic cape.
His head sculpt sits on a ball-hinge and can pivot downward, and side-to-side, and cannot move in an upward position. He includes a very nice sculpt with a superb paint job. He’s painted in a red, green, and gold with black highlights around his eyes, and white eyes.
Articulation:
ball-hinged head, ball-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double hinged elbows, swivel-hinged and removable wrists, ball jointed chest, lower ab crunch, ball jointed hips, double hinged knees, and hinged-swivel ankles.
Accessories:
four of interchangeable hands, Miracle disks, Mother Box
Overall:
Mister Miracle is an excellent figure, a great paint job, and a great sculpt. DC Collectibles did a great job on this figure and we are looking forward to additional characters in this new style from years to come.
However, they do need to perfect the neck piece and make that ball jointed.
Highly Recommended.
