DC Collectibles released the first wave of their highly anticipated Icons line that fills in the gap for DC fans wanting to buy DC Comics characters in their classic outfits. Since Mattel cancelled their 6″ Classics line sold at retailers as well as exclusively on Mattycollector, there has been a gap as far as this style.
Thankfully, DC Collectibles are filling in that void, which is something we said about the company when we starting reviewing their Batman: The Animated Series and The New Adventures of Batman lines. They’ve been picking up where Mattel failed to continue on.
Of course, the two companies are offering a completely different look and scale for the figures, so don’t get confused that you will be able to put your Icons figures and Mattel’s Classics figures on the same shelf. These are meant to not sync together and while Mattel offered bulkier DC figures, DC Collectibles is offering more of a thinner style of DC figures with using less plastic.
That’s not to say it’s a bad thing, because it’s not. We are big fans of the 6″ figure scale in any shape or form, and DC Collectibles started off with a very promising look wave including Mister Miracle, Batman “Last Rights,” Deadman, and Green Arrow.

Sculpt & Paint:
Green Arrow measures 6″ tall and is sculpted with a thin/lean body and features interchangeable hands, arrow bag sculpted to his back, and includes two double-joined arrows, two single arrows, and a bow.
His head sculpt is based on the likeness of comic book character Oliver Queen, with a non-removable rubber hood over it, and a green metallic mask covering his eyes. The hood is connected to his dark green outer layer shirt, which is made of plastic. Sculpted over that are his brown belt, gold belt buckle, brown strap that is also connected to the belt, and also is connected to his arrow bag. The strap is what is meant to hold the arrow bag in place, and the bag can hold the four arrows.
The bow is made with plastic, and a rubber string that can easily bend to hook on the arrows that also can be placed between Green Arrow’s fingers for support, which creates some realistic poses of Oliver about to fire arrows at opponents. The string should be handled very gently, as it’s made of a thin rubber material, it won’t hold to the rough play of children, and should only be used for display purposes.
Green Arrow is painted in two shades of green, dark and lime, with blonde hair, beard, mustache, and a brown arrow bag. The tips of the arrows are silver, and the tops also have a groove for the string to be placed on. The green leaf of the arrow is sculpted with individual grooves, which creates texture.
Articulation:
ball-hinged head, ball-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double hinged elbows, swivel-hinged and removable wrists, ball jointed chest, lower ab crunch, ball jointed hips, double hinged knees, and hinged-swivel rocker ankles.
Accessories:
Interchangeable hands, two double-joined arrows, two single arrows, and a bow.
Overall:
Green Arrow is an excellent figure, a great paint job, and a great sculpt. DC Collectibles did a great job on this figure and we are looking forward to additional characters in this new style from years to come.
Highly Recommended.
