Ask Jakks Q&A With Scott Neitlich – January 2016

The Ask Jakks 2016 starts early this month as Scott sent us back our submissions for January 1st, a bit earlier than we had expected due to the holiday break.

Scott Neitlich, the Director of Marketing for boys action figures and collectors for Jakks Pacific had taken some time from his busy schedule to answer a few questions for us. ToyHypeUSA will also be sending him monthly questions just like we did for Ask Matty, when he worked at Mattel as the brand manager for Masters of the Universe Classics. Send us your questions to [email protected] by December 25th.

1. What can you tell us about the 2016 product line-up for Star Wars and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and are you going to be introducing new scales for those lines?

A: We will definitely have more Star Wars and TMNT goodness coming in 2016. With about 60 days to go until NYTF, you may need to wait until then for more info, but our second wave of Star Wars 20² BIG FIGS should be hitting now and includes characters like Finn, TIE Pilot (First Order) and the Snowtrooper (First Order). Much more to come!

2. Have you been able to keep up with demand now on Star Wars figures based on The Force Awakens, and moving into 2016, what can you tell us about the direction that Jakks is going into?

A: We couldn¹t be more thrilled at the success all of our BIG FIGS have had in 20², 31² Massive and the awesome 48² Colossal scale figures. With so much new Star Wars content coming in the next few years we are geared up for a huge onslaught of Star Wars BIG FIGS in 2016 and beyond. Our goal is to hit as many cool characters as possible and celebrate Star Wars in big big scales!

3. Where is Chopper? I think it’s safe to say you can’t have a Star Wars Rebels line without the astromech droid. When he is released, which scale will he likely be? 31″ like R2D2?

A: Chopper is a huge favorite around here as well and we know he is big with kids too. We don¹t have any specifics to announce right now, but more droids are on the radar. Likely the 31² scale (20² droids like BIG FIGS Massive R2-D2 and Yoda) is where you would find the shorter droids (I.e. R2, Chopper, etcŠ) due to the fact that scaling the droids in our 20² line put them too small for our license to cover.

4. Is Jakks looking to cancel their DC Comics 20 inch line? It’s been awhile since anything new have been revealed, and I was wondering if these stopped selling. What might replace these, if anything?

A: It has a been a while between waves but ³wave 2² of our 20² BIG FIGS DC comic style line with Batman in two decos (Black and Blue/Grey) as well as Flash should be hitting in early 2016 with much more to come.

5. Since it’s too early to speculate on New York ToyFair 2016 in February, but are you planning any big reveals next year and what do you think the fan feedback will be like?

A: Yes we are planning to show off our latest figures at NYTF and we think fans will be extremely pleased with what they will see from all of our lines including BIG FIGS, World of Nintendo, Warcraft and more. We¹re just getting started with so much great toy goodness to come!
