Creatureplica have delivered their new line of highly articulated Yeti and Werewolf action figures that were announced back in 2014. This line is sculpted by legendary toy sculptor Jean St. Jean, whom many of you might know from his work for Diamond Select Toys,
The Sasquatch and Horror Hound made their debut back at Horror Hound Weekend 2014 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Fans attending the show got a first-look at these awesome figures and had a chance to meet Jean St. Jean himself. Now, all four of these are available to order just in time for the new year.
A hybrid were-creature, the product of Axis experiments on a US infantrymen who haunts the Twin Tunnels and Devil’s Backbone of Ohio, looms at 8 ¾” high with 23 points of articulation, and a graveyard base featuring his own tombstone.
Availability: December 2015
The Horror Hound stands at almost 8 3/4″ tall and is sculpted to represent an undead zombified hybrid Werewolf. We’re kicking things off with the Horror Hound because, let’s face it, who wouldn’t want a zombie Werewolf in their toy collection?! His head sculpt features white eyes, which are conceived as the undead, stitches on his forehead, black fur, long pointy ears, and sharp wolf teeth and fangs. His flesh is also decaying and shows red flesh on his cheeks and nose. The jaw unfortunately is not hinged, which would have certainly been a plus.
There is a gap between the top half of his chest and the lower half, as the top half is placed over the lower half and he is broad chested. There are also two swivel joints on the top and bottom of the lower half of the abdominal. It looks as if it could be ball jointed, but it’s not. His arms and chest also have veins sculpted on, which gives him a more realistic look.
His skin tone is painted in light brown on his chest, back, and arms, and his legs are dark brown. His chest and back features the same stitching as seen on his forehead, decaying flesh including intestines and organs, bullet holes, and red flesh. Covering some of his upper back and shoulders are the black fur, which have sculpted texture giving a realistic look. The back of his forearms also have the fur.
The right thigh includes the stitches on the lower part of the hips, which gives him the appearance as if the leg were cut off then reattached, as it’s the same as both of his wrists. The rest of his legs and feet show no sign of decay or baring any ripped flesh.
Horror Hound is also fully articulated including a ball jointed neck, swivel-hinge shoulders, hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, upper swivel abs, lower swivel abs, hinged-swivel hips, swivel thighs, hinged knees, hinged calves, hinged ankles.
Included with Horror Hound is a graveyard base with his headstone. The head stone has a skull and bones sculpted on top, and have wings on the side. The name Warren is sculpted below that, and there are two half moons and a full moon sculpted above the name. The base itself is very detailed with sculpted texture and deco including grass, dirt, plants, and rocks.
Overall:
Creatureplica have delivered on their promise of highly detailed and articulated figures and we are thrilled with the final product. The Horror Hound is one that we have been especially excited for and everything including the zombified detail and artistic style is truly top notch.
We look forward to more figures in the future offered by this company. In the next week, we will be reviewing all four figures by Creatureplica, so stay tuned!
