Creatureplica have delivered their new line of highly articulated Yeti and Werewolf action figures that were announced back in 2014. This line is sculpted by legendary toy sculptor Jean St. Jean, whom many of you might know from his work for Diamond Select Toys, among other companies.
The Louisiana Rougarou is a werewolf from Native American/First Nation legends. While the myth about the creature varies, the common story from different cultures and tribes is that their primary food source are humans.
A gigantic werewolf lurking in the swamps of Cajun country Louisiana, under a magical curse of lycanthropy, stands 8 ¾” high with 23 points of articulation, and a swamp base adorned with a skeletal trophy marking his territory.
Availability: December 2015
The Louisiana Rougarou/werewolf stands at 8 1/2″ tall and is sculpted to represent folklore reports as well as being a humanoid wolf that can stand on two legs. Just like other figures in the line that we showed you, he also is covered in sculpted texture all over his body, which indicates fur. However, unlike the Horror Hound, this figure is not zombified.
He uses many shared parts with the Horror Hound, and includes a newly tooled head, torso, and tail. His head sculpt represents that of a wolf, and features a hinged jaw and swivel ears. This is truly a nice touch to the figure, as the Horror Hound did not include either. His head sculpt includes yellow eyes, long pointy ears, and sharp wolf teeth and fangs.
As we mentioned earlier, his body is covered in sculpted texture, which indicates fur. His torso is newly tooled and he includes reused shoulders, arms, hands, legs, and feet from the Horror Hound.
There is a gap between the top half of his chest and the lower half, as the top half is placed over the lower half and he is broad chested. There are also two swivel joints on the top and bottom of the lower half of the abdominal. It looks as if it could be ball jointed, but it’s not. His arms and chest also have veins sculpted on, which gives him a more realistic look.
His skin tone is painted in light brown on the top of his chest, arms, hands, and his feet are dark brown. The rest of his body is covered in fur, and while the front part of his arms show flesh, the back of his forearms have the fur.
The Louisiana Rougarou is also fully articulated including a ball jointed neck, swivel-hinge shoulders, hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, upper swivel abs, lower swivel abs, hinged-swivel hips, swivel thighs, hinged knees, hinged calves, hinged ankles.
Included with the Louisiana Rougarou are ripped clothing that can be placed over his shoulder and wrists. While we think he looks better without it, the clothing is nicely sculpted and detailed.
He also includes a swamp base adorned with a skeletal trophy. The base features the sculpted texture representing grass, dirt, moss, rock, and plants sculpted on it. There are three pegs attached to the base to plug into his feet. The skeletal trophy is nicely detailed with a human head, spine, and bones with a torn blue shirt on his back. The bones and shirt are painted with black highlights giving it a more realistic look. The back of the skeletal remains as well as the side of his head are also covered in moss, which is truly a nice touch.
Overall:
Creatureplica have delivered on their promise of highly detailed and articulated figures and we are thrilled with the final product. The North American Sasquatch is a great figure, a great design, and a lot of run to play with or display.
We look forward to more figures in the future offered by this company. In the next week, we will be reviewing all four figures by Creatureplica, so stay tuned!
