Boss Fight Studio Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. Series 1 Medusa 05

Continuing our reviews of Boss Fight Studio Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. Series 1 is the Medusa, the cursed Gorgon sister.

Following a very successful Kickstarter campaign in July 2014, Boss Fight Studio has made delivery of the first wave of Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. This wave includes: Spartan Warrior, Medusa, Gorgon Horde Coral Gorgon, Cursed Stone Spartan, and the Kickstarter Exclusive Bronze Spartan Talos. Along with these, Boss Fight also shipped out series 3 Black Racer Gorgon, and wave 1 Fire Orange and Shadow Grey blank bodies.

These figures are scaled to 1/18th inches, making them compatible with G.I. Joe and Star Wars, among other 4″ lines. These figures are based on Greek Mythology, and each come highly detailed with accessories.

Availability: February 2016

Sculpt & Paint:

Boss Fight Studio Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. Series 1 Medusa 15

Medusa stands at 8″ tall when standing on the tip of her tail, and 4-1/4″ when the tail is curved around to help her stand. The body sculpt will be reused for all Gorgons, and is a great one indeed. Her head sculpt features snakes as hair with some open and closed mouths. The hair is fully textured with skills, along with her forehead and her entire tail. The amount of detail that went into the hair is amazing, and if you look close enough you can see the Snakes have tiny eyes sculpted. Her facial sculpt is just incredible, and looks just as menacing as Medusa should look.

The tail is incredible, and features some of the best sculpting that we’ve seen in this scale, which is nothing less than we would expect from the talent of Boss Fight Studio. The tail is fully articulated, and uses seven ball joints on the tail to give you the ability to curl the tail around a victim or to help her stand up right. All of this articulation also gives the character the look, feel, and movement of a real snake tail. On the under belly of the tail, the contours are sculpted with some very detailed texture. The material of the snake skin is plastic, but feels very smooth and almost like rubber. The tail fits over Medusa’s hips, and are non-removable.

Medusa’s torso is also shared with the Black Racer and Coral Gorgons and sculpted with a thin, lean and tight look. Sculpted over her skin is brushed metal body armor including her chest, which is removable, right arm, and a removable shoulder harness, as well as her hips. The armor is unique compared to the other gorgon figures, and really looks incredible.

Not only is the sculpt great, but you need a solid paint deco to sell it. Well, once again Boss Fight doesn’t disappoint. The skin is colored in different shades of green, and really work well together. The deco on the tail is the most incredible, with a detailed pattern on the skills.

Articulation:

Medusa includes a ball jointed tail (7 points), swivel hips, ball jointed abs, ball jointed head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged and removable wrists.

Accessories:

Medusa includes removable armor, whip, dagger, interchangeable hands, and a figure stand.

Overall:

Medusa is an excellent figure with some superb detail, deco, and accessories. Boss Fight Studio did an amazing job on this figure, and we looking forward to seeing that they do next. Every aspect about the figure is incredible, from the material of the snake tail, tooling of the snake hair, and all of the detail comes together nicely to create one awesome looking Gorgon queen.

Highly Recommended.
