Disney Store released some new figures in addition to the series 1 offering on Force Friday. Some of these new figures include Poe Dameron, Unmasked Kylo Ren, Boba Fett, and an upcoming Prototype armor Boba Fett Elite Series Die-Cast figures. Disney is continuing this line with some great character choices and right now there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. While some of the releases are more spread out than we’d like, the quality and attention to detail on these figures is impressive.
Thank you to Disney and The Disney Store for providing their Poe Dameron exclusive Elite Series Die-Cast figure for review.
Availability: December 2015
Poe Dameron stands at 6-1/2″ and is made of die-cast, which makes the figure heavier compared to other materials such as plastic. He features a brand new sculpt, and is sculpted in his X-Wing Pilot suit as seen in the film. He features a removable X-Wing helmet, and a removable blaster from the holster sculpted to the belt on his right hip. Also included is the same figure base as seen with the rest of the series.
The X-Wing Pilot suit represents the movie likeness very well, and even features a white flak vest with symbols and letters sculpted on, and the vest is sculpted over the orange suit. Sculpted to the flak vest is a life support box on top, that is connected to tubing that is connected to his left leg. Sculpted around his waist is a belt that is attached to straps with belt buckles that are sculpted around his legs and come together at the back. There is also straps with buckles wrapped around the lower parts of his legs. His right hand is sculpted hold the pistol, and the left hand is sculpted in an open position, as if he’s about to shake someone’s hand. His head sculpt includes a five-o-clock shadow, black hair, and features the likeness of the Actor Oscar Isaac.
Like all other Elite Series Die-Cast figures from Disney, Poe Dameron also has the screws showing up on his back. In his case, the screws show up on the back of the arms, buttocks, and upper thighs. Since most people probably won’t display him from the back, it doesn’t really matter so much. Still, like all other figures, it’s too noticeable and adding something like plugs might had been the way to go.
As we had mentioned above, the helmet is removable. This is also different than any helmet seen before the an X-Wing Pilot from Episodes IV-VI. This helmet, while sculpted similarity, is painted in black, with red lines and symbols, yellow lines and symbols, and a yellow visor that sits above the eyes.
Overall:
The Elite Series Die-Cast figures are a very impressive line over Hasbro’s 6″ The Black Series offerings, and each new figure maintains the same style and great tooling. Poe Dameron continues this trend of excellence, and should be added to your already growing collection.
Highly Recommended.
