Playmates Toys TMNT: Out of the Shadows movie toys are available now in stores and online, and one good thing about this film is that it introduces two iconic characters of the 1980’s and 90’s, Bebop and Rocksteady. In the classic cartoon, these characters were introduced as humans as part of a street gang, and tricked by Shredder and Kraang to become mutated into the mutants you know them as today. Given their new film appearance, it’s safe to assume that both characters will follow a similar bio to their classic animated counterparts. From the movie trailers that we’ve seen, we already know that Bebop and Rocksteady are smarter, and more formidable, as opposed to being dimwitted and easily outsmarted. There is a quote in the animated series, that one of the Turtles saying that if Rocksteady and Bebop had half a brain between them, they could become formidable for the turtles. It looks like that is what Out of the Shadows Bebop and Rocksteady are like, and if there is any indication, the Turtles are going to have just as hard a time defeating them as they did with Tokka and Rahzar from Secret of the Ooze.

The Warthog Trike comes with an exclusive Bebop figure that gets an all-new head sculpt, that is sculpted with a brown helmet and grey goggles, and resembles vintage flight goggles that aviation pilots used to use. What sets this figure apart from the single packaged figure, is the helmet. Usually, there are fan complaints that some of the 2012-2016 animated figures have missing paint apps compared to the press images. The good news with the TMNT: Out of the Shadows movie toys is that Playmates Toys have offered all the paint apps, articulation, and tooling required to make these toys great. This Bebop figure is the best figure ever offered from the company (with the exception of the 6″ Classics).
Bebop is given a new head sculpt with the brown helmet and grey goggles (as we mentioned above), and reuses the body as the standard packaged figure. His warthog skin is sculpted with some texture, and sculpted over the skin is a brown leather vest, bone necklace, a red tattoo on his left shoulder, and spiked wrist guards on both arms. The jacket is plain on the front, and some spikes, texture, and sculpted patterns on the back.His pink hair is sculpted over the back of his vest, as well as his lower back, and the tail just hangs below out and over the pants. His head sculpt is sculpted with an open mouth, with four long teeth, a pig snout, and his iconic pink glasses that are non-removable to glued to the sides of his head. Underneath his chin is pink hair that is textured.
His stomach is wide, and rests over and stretches his paints. His pants are cast in black, and has some silver on the belt buckle, and the upper part of his legs have spikes that were also individually painted in silver. The spikes are also seen below it on the lower legs, but those were left cast in black. Included with Bebop is a chain whip with a lock attached at the end, and a crowbar. The articulation includes a swivel head, hinged-swivel shoulders, hinged-swivel elbows, swivel wrists, swivel waist, hinged-swivel hips, and hinged-swivel knees.
The Warthog Trike is nicely detailed and features two firing green grenade launchers at the top, five rotating tires (four in the back that are sculpted together, one in the front), The name Bebop sculpted to both sides, chains with a lock sculpted the sides and the lock hands in the front, handlebars, spikes above the read and front tire covers, and four green grenades on both sides connected to the black dashboard. There is a lot of nice tooling on the body, with lots of line work that was left all in one solid color. The headlight also has some sculpted lines and painted in yellow, and the exhaust pipes are at the front and painted in grey.
Overall:
The Warthog Trike is an excellent set and one that both old and new fans will love. This set offers Bebop shown to be more of a badass than any previous version seen before. The Trike truly looks great.
