The Demon Etrigan and Klarion are based on the episode “The Demon Within,” which had originally aired on May 9th, 1998. This is a great month for Batman: The Animated Series and The New Adventures of Batman fans, as Commissioner Gordon, Zatanna, and Ra’s Al Ghul were also available.
The Demon Etrigan and Klarion 2 pack is #26 of the line.
Availability: August 2016
Klarion stands 4-1/2″ and is sculpted in a long black coat and pants , with black witch’s shoes and a white undershirt. Klarion is an evil morlock, and the outfit depicts the look nicely that was also shown in the episode. His air has two horn like curls sculpted on top, and his facial sculpt includes black eye liner. The cat, as also featured in the episode, has 6 points of articulation and is painted light brown, with black stripes, green eyes, and an open mouth. In the episode, Karion was able to use a spell that would make the cat become humanoid and follow his commands to do jobs. Unfortunately, this is just a standard cat, but we’re hopeful that the humanoid version of the cat will one day see release.
Klarion includes three sets of interchangeable hands, an acrylic stand with base, the iron used to control Etrigan, and his cat.
Etrigan stands at 6-1/4″ and is sculpted with yellow skin, a red shirt, red shorts, red shoes, grey cape, and a grey belt. His head sculpt features pointy ears, horns, big red eyes, and a bald head as seen in the episode. The sculpt is wide and bulky as featured in the episode as well as Justice League Unlimited. The top part of the chest and shoulders are bulkier than the bottom portion of the stomach, legs, and forearms. Due to him being a bit top heavy, he could fall over as his ankles are hinged and if the feet are too close together. It’s better to spread his feet apart to get him to stand. The figure stand won’t work on him due to his bulkiness.
Etrigan includes three sets of interchangeable hands, and an acrylic stand with base.
Overall:
There is much love for the Batman 1990’s series, storyline, and characters and each new release from DC Collectibles only proves that. DC Collectibles have once again managed to capture the animated likeness of both The Demon Etrigan and Klarion in this box set. The attention to detail, sculpting, and paint apps work exceptionally well. What is also good is that like Zatanna, Etrigan was also a hero featured in Justice League Unlimited, so those ranks are also building in this Batman animated line.
Highly Recommended.
