Starting today, Jyn Erso’s regular edition figure is available to pre-order through Entertainment Earth and BigBadToyStore, which includes the standard Black Series packaging. Rogue One toys had starting to be revealed this week and the news has been coming in faster than we thought. So we hope you’ve been enjoying our Star Wars Rogue One coverage. With Jyn Erso’s pre-orders being launched, we thought it would be a good idea to get to the San Diego Comic-Con 2016 exclusive version and review her before most people have the chance to own it.
Jyn Erso and the un-helmeted version of Kylo Ren are part of Hasbro’s 6″ The Black Series first wave of Rogue One figures that will be offered. Both of those figure were first offered in San Diego Comic-Con with exclusive packaging and accessories that won’t be available anywhere else (except for Fan Expo Canada).
On the first day of San Diego Comic-Con, Hasbro had officially revealed Jyn Erso as being one of their exclusive offerings this year, which came as a surprise that they would wait last minute like that. With the reveal, she would become one of the most requested exclusives at the Hasbro booth this year right up there with Kylo Ren and Obi-Won Kenobi.
Availability: July 20th-24th San Diego Comic-Con 2016; Fan Expo Canada (September 2016)
The packaging for Jyn Erso includes four different card stack photos that are exclusive to the figure, and are stored in a folder in the back of the box that is behind where she is being stored. The retail version of this figure will not have these. The packaging also includes a slip cover, and she does not have plastic or anything protecting her once the slip cover is removed. Her pistol and hood are stored next to her securely placed inside.
Sergeant Erso is a rebel soldier, and the figure does a nice job depicting her appearance from what we’ve seen so far. The sculpt features some realistic and detailed clothing details including texture on her pants, wrinkles, pouches, a holster for her pistol, and a hood/scarf accessory that is placed over her head. The paint deco on her is very detailed and Hasbro has quickly come along way with it. Everything is perfectly done and there is no bleeding or errors on this figure as far as we can tell. The head sculpt uses semi translucent plastic, which does not show all the deco as opposed to the rest of the figure, which is unfortunate as the body came out very nicely.
Jyn Erso features all the necessary points of articulation to give you some realistic looking poses. This includes a swivel-hinged neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged hips, ball socket mid-torso, swivel thighs, swivel-hinged wrists, double-hinged knees, swivel boots, and swivel-hinged ankles.
Included with her is a pistol that she can hold in a sheath on her right hip, and the hood/scarf. Her right hand has a trigger finger that almost fit inside the trigger hole, but the finger is too short to make this happen.
Overall:
Jyn Erso is an excellent figure with good likeness to the film. The deco is very well done and we especially like the detail to the sculpt, packaging, and pretty much every aspect about this figure.
Highly Recommended.
