Sideshow Collectibles long awaited Wolverine Sixth Scale Figure is available now. Wolverine is featured in his brown costume as seen in Marvel Comics in the 1980’s, and recently made a comeback. This is the second character from the Weapon X program to see the Sideshow treatment in 1/6th Scale, as Deadpool started off the line followed by The Punisher. The brown costume had the longest run in Marvel Comics history, spanning from 1980-1988, and roughly 2014-2016. The brown costume has also been made into a Statue by Sideshow Collectibles, which is also available to order. With the brown costume being the longest running one that Wolverine had worn, this is potentially one reason why Sideshow is offering him in this one first in the Sixth Scale line over the yellow and black Classic costume.
Wolverine stands at 12″ tall and comes with interchangeable head sculpts, swappable arms, interchangeable hand sculpts, mask accessory for the unmasked head, a figure base and stand, and the Sideshow Collectibles exclusive version comes with an exclusive Katana accessory.
Thank you to Sideshow Collectibles for providing their Wolverine Sixth Scale Figure for review.
Availability: December 2016
Wolverine stands at 12″ tall and is made using both plastic and soft goods. The body is all new and sculpted in a muscular tone and includes all the necessary articulation that you are used too. The fabric is beautifully done with hand crafted sewing and made of several materials in the brown and yellow. The boots and feet are made of plastic, and includes some detail deco including a wash over the brown of the boots. The arms are interchangeable and includes three different sculpts – non-elbow articulated, elbow articulated, and the third one with the wrists facing each other.
The arms are easy to swap in and out, and the gauntlets are needed for each one. The wrists include three different versions, closed fisted, open handed, and closed fisted with claws extended. The claws are made using metal and are sharp, so you definitely want to be careful with these.
There are two head sculpts included, a masked head and unmasked head with the mask connected on his back using magnets. Both head sculpts have a great likeness to the character with the unmasked version having more detail including the highlights in his hair, and facial details including the eyes and nose. Wolverine has a similar smiling grin on both sculpts as if he’s just warming up for battle, and looks just as menacing as it does in the comics. The masked head includes the black and yellow deco with his eyes being painted in silver. There is one issue with swapping out the head, and that is with the cylinder piece that plugs into the head sculpt and connects to the ball joint of the neck. This piece if pushed too far into the head, is very difficult to remove and you probably won’t be able too. With this piece stuck, this leaves the other head sculpt without a more secure way to place him on the body and is prone to falling off easy.
In addition to the interchangeable parts, Wolverine also includes a figure base with stand that is similar to Deadpool and The Punisher.
