DC Collectibles Cancels Upcoming DC Icons Shazam, Sinestro, Deadshot And More 6″ Figures

Since New York ToyFair 2017, we’ve been wondering of the fate of the 6″ Icons line by DC Collectibles single pack figures, as it would appear that they are moving the line to larger sets such as 2 packs, oversized figures like Darkseid, and vehicles. On Facebook, DC Collectibles confirmed that several of the upcoming 6″ figures were canceled due to low retailer interest based on sales of existing figures. These figures include Shazam, Sinestro, Deadshot, and the Blue Beetle/Booster Gold 2 pack. DC Collectibles has not confirmed the reason, although this has been a strong indicator in the past, including their DC movie line.

You can order 6″ Icons figures and more on Entertainment EarthBigBadToyStore, Things From Another World and Amazon.com.

This is what DC Collectibles had to say:

“The Booster Gold/Blue Beetle two pack was cancelled due to low interest from retailers. We didn’t have enough orders to move ahead with the two pack. Currently the DC Icons line has Nightwing, Supergirl, Super Sons 2 Pack and Death of Superman set coming up in the fall of this year.”

“Shazam, Sinestro, and Deadshot Icon figures have indeed been cancelled. We’ll keep you posted on future Icons release plans once we hash out those details.”

The good news here is that while single carded figures might no longer be offered in this line, DC Collectibles have said nothing about the upcoming Superman/Doomsday 2 pack as shown at New York ToyFair 2017. Apparently, fans and retailers favor these with the card back diorama over single carded figures. Other figures including Superboy and Robin 2-pack, Hush Nightwing and New 52 Supergirl should be coming later on this year, and we will make sure to update as we know more.

DC Collectibles have not given any indication that the single pack figures won’t be offered at all, suggesting they could offer these figures in multipacks or exclusives down the road.

Interestingly enough, retailers like Entertainment EarthBigBadToyStore, Things From Another Worldand Amazon have not yet canceled their pre-orders. Indicating that there might still be a small chance that these figures could still see release. Our suggestion is to keep your pre-order, or place a new one and show the retailers and DC Collectibles that you want more single carded figures by placing orders on what is available now, as they will only make figures if the sales on their to support the line. Our suggestion is to keep your pre-orders open, and wait to hear the official confirmation if and when they cancel the figures. Even figures such as these can be re-solicited if enough interest is there, and in turn the retailers order more figures from DC Collectibles and show them that the demand is there. Right now, it’s up to the fans placing more orders to save these figures, as well as future plans for the line.
