DC Collectibles Icons 6″ Static Shock Figure Review

The next batch of DC Icons 6″ figures are available at comic shops and some online retailers this week, which include Deathstroke, Static Shock, Cyborg (Deluxe), Wonder Woman, and Swamp Thing. Static Shock is #21 of the Icons line. Static was designed by Ivan Reis and sculpted by Amos Hemsley.

Over the years Static has been in several DC Comics series, his own animated series in 2000-2004, as well as several notable appearances in Justice League Unlimited animated series. The character has been seen as a teenager in his own series, as well as an old man fighting along side the future team of the Justice League that also ties in with Batman Beyond.

Thank you to DC Collectibles for providing DC Icons 6″ Static Shock for review.

Availability: April 5th, 2017

Static Shock is packed in the standard window boxed packaging as seen with other single boxed figures in this line, and inside the window box you can see all of the accessories included with Static. He stands at 5 1/2″ tall and is based on his first-appearance costume that he wore in the comics from 1993-1997. The costume is painted in a metallic dark blue with a white lightning bolt painted on his torso and left leg. The costume is primarily painted in the metallic blue, which also overs most of his head serving as a mask. Sculpted over his forearms are gold bracelets

Included with Static is a manhole cover display base that is painted in gold with a brown wash over it, with the words Dakota (as he is from Dakota City) on the outer and interior of it. The base rests on an electric base and there are three bolts where the manhole sits on. The electric base is made of a blue translucent plastic. Also included are two interchangeable head sculpts, masked, and an extra head with a blue hat and a white x on it.

Originally, the figure was planned to include additional accessories, such as extra hands, a coat, and a lightning bolt that he can hold. DC Collectibles apparently reduced the number of accessories to offer the figure as a single pack at the $24.99 price point, as opposed to the planned $39.99 price point.

His articulation includes a ball jointed neck, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, hinged-swivel wrists, ab crunch, ball jointed hips, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, and rocker ankles.

Overall, this is a nicely sculpted figure with a great likeness to the characters first-appearance and accessories. DC fans will definitely want to add this figure to their collection.
