Rick Grimes features new blood splattered deco on the previously used figure sculpt from The Walking Dead 5″ Series 8, and is based on his appearance as seen in the Terminus and escape from Terminus episodes. Rick is sporting his black jacket, grey jeans, tan shirt, black belt with a silver belt buckle, brown shoes, a beard, and includes blood splattered drops on his face. There is a pistol holster on his right hip and he includes his colt python assault rifle, and a silver pistol with a brown handle. Not all of the accessories are available in this release of the sculpt, and what is missing is the machete with the red handle. The blood splattered deco more than makes up for the missing accessory, and this truly a great variant. The figure was created using 3D scans of Andrew Lincoln, which is how they are able to capture such detailed likeness.

His articulation includes a ball jointed neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, ball jointed wrists, swivel-hinged hips, swivel-hinged knees, and swivel ankles.

Michonne is updated with new blood splattered deco on a previous offering, which covers his tank top, shirt, jeans, shoes as well as the blade of the katana. Michonne is painted in a brown vest, pink shirt, dark blue jeans (which is in a darker blue compared to the previous offering shown in the gallery below), a brown belt with a silver buckle, a silver and gold necklace that is painted around her neck, and grey shoes. The head band has some nice detailed deco, which is also the same as the previous figure. The new blood splattered deco is truly great for this release, which was already a great figure. Included with Michonne is a blood spattered katana, and a sheath that fits around her body that is attached to a strap. The figure was created using 3D scans of Danai Gurira, which is how they are able to capture such detailed likeness.

Her articulation includes a ball jointed neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, ball jointed wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel-hinged hips, swivel-hinged knees, and swivel ankles.

Darry Dixon is given an updated figure that features the blood splattered deco, and the figure was last used with the new bike deluxe set. This release has the vest with wings that is repainted in blood splatter, sculpted over the torso with several other layers of clothing and sleeved arms, a sheath for his knife on his right hip, and the same crossbow with some new deco that came with the earlier figures. Darryl is painted in a brown vest, brown shirt, silver buttons, and brown pants with black wash that looks realistic. The figure was designed using 3D scenes of Norman Reedus himself, including the head sculpt that is undeniably a great likeness. Every bit of detail was worked on including the five o’ clock shadow and mustache. This is how McFarlane can capture the likeness on all of their television show figures, and the detail put into it is just remarkable.

His articulation includes a ball jointed neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, ball jointed wrists, ball-jointed torso, swivel-hinged hips, swivel-hinged knees, and swivel ankles.

Overall, these are great figures with superb updated deco that The Walking Dead fans will definitely want to add to their 5″ figure collection. Look for this set on store shelves in June.
