Availability: August 2017

The Pirate Raider Carry Case comes with two figures, a Pirate and a French soldier, a life boat, a cannon, a treasure chest with coins, a sack with gold objects, two small barrels to hold the ammunition for the cannon, a small flame, two missiles/cannons, and accessories for the figures.

The life boat includes two oars that pivot, and it’s hard for the Pirate figure to hold them while sitting or standing. The boat includes a wooden seat, and two pirate flags in the back. The boat is painted in a dark brown, with a detailed sculpt that makes the plastic look like wood.

The cannon is on four wheels and can fire a cannon ball. The cannon’s holster is painted green and mobile, and the cannon can pivot up and down. A second cannon is included, and the two barrels have removable tops. This is most likely where additional cannons are stored.

The Pirate figure is nicely detailed and is painted in a blue, red, and yellow jacket, with a white undershirt, black chest harness, black paints, a black belt with a silver belt buckle, dark grey boots, red sleeves, and a left hook for a hand. A gold harness can be placed over the torso to create a sheath for his sword, which can fit in his right hand. A dark grey hat is also available with a small peg for the gold pirate logo to be placed on it. The head sculpt is nicely detailed, especially the black beard and mustache, and red bandana over his head. There is also a black necklace around his neck with a silver coin.

The French soldier is painted in a long blue coat, red and white, with red shorts, llong white socks and black shoes. The hat is removable, and his white hair is in to the style of the 1700’s. The rifle includes a removable blade at the end, and can only be held in one hand at a time given that the shoulders and wrists can swivel. Around the soldier’s neck is a gold collar with shoulder pads.

Both of the figures include a swivel neck, swivel shoulders, swivel wrists, and pivoting hips. This is limited articulation, but this is also standard to Playmobil. Overall, this is a nice looking set, and definitely worth adding to your Pirates collection.
