Hasbro Marvel Legends 6″ Marvel Knights Blade Figure Review

Hasbro has finally given what fans have been clamoring for since the arrival of Netflix’s Marvel series, branded as the Marvel Knights series with a Man Thing as the build-a-figure. The series includes MCU Daredevil, MCU Punisher, MCU Jessica Jones, MCU Elektra, Blade and Bullseye; all packed with a piece to build a hulking sized Man Thing.

Eric Brooks, the child of a prostitute who was bitten while giving birth to him, making him the half vampire, half human known as Blade. Due to these unique circumstances he possesses all of the strengths and none of the weaknesses of a vampire. Blade has made it his life mission to rid the world of the undead.
Blade first appeared in The Tomb of Dracula #10 (July 1973) The figure stands at 6.25″ and is based his modern comic appearance.
Blade has a Kevlar armored vest, finger-less gloves and blue paints. The figure comes with a sword which can be stored on his back in a sheath. The strap (which is removable) that holds the sheath has many scuplted wooden stakes that go across his chest and his back. He also has a guarder that has sculpted silver stakes around it and free floating around his upper thigh. Besides the sword, he comes with an alternate head with a full head of hair more like his classic appearance. He also comes packed with Man Thing’s right leg as his build-a-figure piece. Blade reuses the biceps and shoulders of Havok (Juggernaut wave) and the legs of Electro’s (Ultimate Green Goblin wave). He has clean paint applications with no bleeding.

Blade has the standard articulation Marvel Legends are known for. His articulation includes a ball jointed disc hinged neck, ball jointed shoulders, bicep swivel, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, waist swivel, ball jointed hips with limited range of motion, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, boot cut and swivel-hinged ankles.

Finally after of years of Hasbro teasing with prototypes of Blade, we finally received the day-walker himself. This figure is different and a much better sculpt then the one shown in past years, This is the first time we received a comic version of Blade in the Legend series and it was well over due. There are a few drawbacks to the figure that I have to point out:
1. The figures legs can’t go back far enough to allow him to stand straight up. In order to get the figure to stand you have to bend his knees a little.
2. His ankle articulation is hindered by the sculpt of his boot, allowing very limited motion of back and forward.
3. I wish his alternate head had his fangs showing.
None of these are deal breakers in my opinion, he’s still a nice addition to the Hasbro line up, but he could have been a perfect figure with a few minor adjustments.
